Brilliant portrayal of Maigret, but disappointed at the demise of such a good quality series
Rowan Atkinson is superb as the legendary Maigret, and the whole series has been very good, with high quality acting, authentic scenes of Paris ( quite seedy and down at heel at times ) and interesting bonus features. It never occurs to me to think of Blackadder or Mr. Bean, and the portrayal of the detective has a certain gravitas, and raises the quality of the adaptation. I cannot believe that there will not be any more for us to enjoy. I hope that those in high places will have second thoughts, as many of us enjoy good quality programmes. The old cars have so much character, and the fashions of the era are so attractive. I am not sure for how long the previous DVD series ran, but I was disappointed that there were only two episodes on this. I would like to find out why the series has finished after such a comparatively short run.

Atkinson is good but shooting in Budapest ....
ATKINSON acting is quite good, a fairly convincing Maigret, a bit too skinny for a Maigret who was of the bulky type and looking too much like the infamous PM Fillon !! The production saved a few pounds by shooting in Budapest but Maigret in Montmartre is not the least bit convincing, at one point I saw a tower of the Fishermen's Bastion, Budapest landmark !!! the old Buda does not make a realistic Montmartre ... "mittel Europa" buildings are not to be found in Paris, disappointing

Rowan Atkinson Is Believably French
My Swiss wife, who is firmly of the opinion that Maigret can ONLY be played by a French actor - in French, was most impressed by Rowan Atkinson's Inspector Maigret (as was I). This is British TVat its' best: atmospheric, minimal or no anachronisms, superb acting and casting, superb production values (made for ITV)The only drawback is coming to the end of the two series and realising that (as yet) there will be no more...

Very pleased with purchase
I already have series 1 of Maigret and had been trying to get a copy of series 2 locally for a while. Very pleased with my purchase.

Maigret Series 2
Excellently made, both episodes. The stories are not as gripping as the first series sadly, especially episode four, but the quality of the programme pretty much makes up for this. Excellent cast, especially Atkinson - his is not the Maigret I have read but he is very, very watchable.

Delightful.
Who would ever imagine that Rowan Atkinson of the silly Mr. Bean(e) would be such a great detective? After watching series 1, we searched for Maigret and found some guy named Bruno or something like that - but we didn't find him to be a very likable character. Happy to see that a series 2 was made & fingers crossed for series 3.

Absolutely excellent
There was some flack when Rowan took on a serious role but when Series 1 came out, I thought he was just excellent. Now, Series 2 has been released and he is even better than in Series 1. He is simply superb as Maigret and the two episodes are really very good little mysteries. I hope Series 3 will be filmed and released eventually.
