Einhell Digital Cable Detector, Stud Finder, Detection of Metal, Wood and Electric Leads in Dry Walling, Protector Pad, Soft Grip, Automatic Switch-Off TC-MD 50

Never really got round getting one of these as most of my DIY work I have worked my way around pipes and wires. I decided that it is time to get one as my diy is getting serious. This product is not too expensive and feels quite solid to hold. The buttons work well. Read that some people felt that they received a used product based on the velco mounted at the back and no battery was supplied. The product I received also had the velcro accurately stuck to the back as well as no battery supplied. Looking at this product on the Einhell website suggests that there is no battery supplied. I think the velcro is important as this allows the unit to smoothly glide against the wall. The instructions are not in English however if you look at the product support on this listing you can download or read an English version of the instructions. Been testing this for a good few days with joists, pipes and wiring. This product seems to be accurate in the detection. It would seem that for each usage you need to calibrate it and it does it's job. This does make sense as it is the surface that can affect the readings. Positive indicator is done using sound as well as a visual indication on the screen.

Absolute rubbish. Arrived Dead, did not work. Only cost £28 but total cost was £63 because it uses 9V batteries but came without one to test it. So I had to PAY OYT £35 for a rechargeable 9V Battery and compatible charger just to test this utter rubbish. I use to be an Einhell fan but not this time. Absolute rubbish. Also don't like the way you have to calibrate every 60 seconds, what!!!! Calibrate on something you don't know whats behind. What utter rubbish, it should be auto calibrated like the good old fashioned analogue ones were. Didnt see that in the description. Gone for an auto calibrating Dewalt unit instead from my local builders where they can show me it works. Tried everything, even running it slowly over known LIVE mains cables, bits of wood and metal fittings. It didn't detect any of them, and all mere mm away. In a way I was glad it was dead..... Glad it didn't work, utter rubbish I normally expect and get from unbranded chinese made stuff, and not what I expect from Einhell who are supposed to be dependable. Will think twice about Einhell products from now on since they are now pricing their STUFF close to what the Yellow Pro Tool company products, may switch to them from now on and move away from Einhell if all they do is REBADGE unreliable chinese products?!?!?!?!? NOT A HAPPY BUNNY BOILER - AM NOW £35 OUT OF POCKET EVEN WHEN AMAZON REFUND ME!!! ABSOLUTELY LIVID WITH BOTH AMAZON & EINHELL. POOR EXPERIENCE BEING SENT A DEAD ITEM WITH NO BATTERY INCLUDED TO TEST IT WITH - DISGRACEFUL.

Not always the easiest to hold and press scan button at same time but apart from that simple to use.

Seems easy to use & accurate, but unfortunately there wasn't any instructions in English with the product, the only way to get instructions in English was to go online..

I don’t usually write reviews this negative, but this is probably the worst purchase I have made relating to DIY. I thought, wrongly, because the brand is German, that this stud finder would be very good quality and easy to use. I bought it because of its functionality, which covers off everything I wanted. But, before each use you need to calibrate it, and even after that it did not find a large metal box when placed right on top of it. The supplied instructions were not in English, and the device shell is made of hard, cheap looking plastic. I am going to buy another stud detector now.

Poor performance from the start the overall feel/ quality is ok as well as the appearance. Doesn’t look cheap but damn is it dangerous it’s not easy to use it thinks my fingers are metal and won’t detect live wires under any circumstances I would avoid this product massively. I’ve been sent a replacement and it was just as bad so I’ll be returning that too.

It's easy to use and understand it would help if the instructions were in English. Used the product on different materials to work out what was what and works fine and accurate.

Not an accurate piece of equipment and would not purchase again.

Deze leidingmeter is niet nieuw, is al eerder gebruikt. Dat zag ik aan de doos, verzegeling, gebruiksaanwijzing e.d. Ook duidelijke gebruikerssporen die ik niet veroorzaakt heb. Jammer, ik bestel een nieuw product, zonder gebruikerssporen. Ik denk erover deze te retourneren en elders een andere te bestellen.
