Additional information to my original posting:About half a year to nine months on, I still heartily recommend the Versa coat stand, and it hasn't lost any of its attraction for me at all.My coat stand is BEING USED FOR TIES: My husband is using two of them for his ties; they look like a cascading waterfall. They hold about 80 per tree; 11 per 'branch')EASY TO ASSEMBLE: Further also to the below, the stand was VERY easy to put together; and quite fun screwing the little leaves on. It only took me about 8-12 minutes (to make another one - maybe 6-10 minutes)EASY TO MOVE: I have a bad back, but can easily move it if required - it is not too heavy to lift.STAYS PUT: The base balances it very well, and does not fall over easily unlike some other coat stands I have used in the past.PASTEL MATT SOFT SHADE: The silver is a dull matt silver - quite soft, like a matt pastel.USER-FRIENDLY: It is NOT made of freezing cold metal - this is quite nice because it doesn't feel cold to the touch (I have used a 'naked' metal coat-stand in the past which was too cold to brush up against in the winter!).I can't quite bring myself to delete my original posting (further below), and thus I will leave my original thoughts on the tree (i.e. upon re-reading, exceedingly over-excited burble) below still.Thank you for taking the time to read the above.P.S. I am about to buy my third tree. :-)Original posting from me:WOW-WOW-WOW! I can't stop staring at it..... It is THE most stunning item I think that I have ever seen. It is going to be a trouser-tree!!!! I want to get a FOREST of them - seriously - I could have one in every room for different things. Handbags would look GREAT. Hats would look GREAT. Normal usage for coats would be GREAT - and what a conversation-piece! There is indeed a tiny bit of wood at the bottom - makes it slightly lighter in weight and after all - it wouldn't be a 'TREE' if there wasn't any wood in it! I have put it in front of a mirror and oh my goodness - FABULOUS, SUPERB - basically EVERY superlative is this coat stand. I can effuse about a lot of things that I buy - but this is the most artistic and perfect possession that I possess - it even beats any handbag or pair of shoes that I have ever bought! Thank you SO much to whoever is the designer - you are amazing, and should win a World Award for Design, in my opinion. Thank you so much for designing, making, and selling it.

Love this coat stand. It arrived promptly and went together easily. The base is solid and heavy and the entire stand quite sturdy. I have a couple of heavy coats on there as well as some lighter jackets - the stand is good and strong and doesn't wobble. It's a bit expensive but I like the fact that it's unusual. It's almost a shame to put coats onto it as it hides the shape of the stand - it could easily hold it's own as statement piece.

Thought it would be chrome but it is grey wood. Base damaged as really cheap covering over base. Will only get worse with wear. Does the job though. Don't get it too excited about this. It's a coat stand.
