Would recommend
Bought this in hopes of keeping crap out of the grooves. Also hoping that it would help with a little waterproofing underneath. So far working great and even if i have to replace it every other year it is easy it put down. Looks great on this porch. As long as your trex grooves are prefect it is well worth the $$

Works well to fill 1/4" gaps
I needed black 1/4" backer rod so I ordered some of this as the other stuff on Amazon is all grey. The other backer rod I had was pure (close cell) foam. I didn't think it would make a big difference, but this "foam rubber" backer rod is a lot more dense and harder to work with/fit if your gap is less than 1/4". I have a log home and I was filling the wood cracks on the outside which vary in length and diameter. The (actual) closed cell foam backer rod can easily fit in slightly smaller gaps, but the rubber backer rod is a struggle if the gap is even a little bit less than 1/4". Ultimately it works, but it's a lot more work to get in there. The product seems like a quality/well made product otherwise and if you need something for a gap that is exactly 1/4" then this product should work well. Actual foam backer rod is much easier to use for areas you are filling that have variable widths though.

Great caulk filler
Product was better quality than I expected. I used to fill a large gap and caulked on the outside. I ended cutting the product in half and the product held up great under pressure from shoving into a tight crack. I had to apply more caulk due to the black showing through. I would recommend not using black unless you have a very dark colored caulk. Not a hit against the product, 100% on me for the color transparency.

This was more like weatherstripping than backer rod

Good quality stuff
1/4 inch backer rod is hard to find locally. This was good stuff, I used it to fill concrete control cracks before sealing . Easy to work with and I like the slight stretching it does for installation .
