It will mask the yellow. It very well may leave a pale blue or lavender tint. It does on my hair. The longer it sits, the greater the chance of tinting. One thing to think about is why has your hair yellowed? New meds, using different hair products, too much heat from appliances?

Yes, you can use it during the shower. It doesn't stain. No more yellowing . Very happy with this shampoo!
