Daughters first evolution book!
Getting this was a big moment for me as a dad. I’d often thought at what age to introduce this complex topic to my daughter but was excited to do so as I believe its the most fascinating topic on earth! So, I gave this to her for her 5th bday and she LOVES it! She keeps reading it herself and weve been reading it together too. Amazing content and pictures and just perfect for her age.

Great introduction to evolution for primary school children
I bought this book after seeing that the original one I was looking at for my planet loving (now 6yr old) about climate change was written by my old biology teacher so I had to buy them all! The book was a great introduction to the massive topic of evolution, beautiful pictures and simple language. The book can be read in one sitting which was good as it helped my son understand the flow of events etc. We are looking forward to reading the other two! Thank you!

and it is fantastic. My son loves it and often requests it ...
I bought this book for my six year old after seeing the authors' presentation at Hay Festival, and it is fantastic. My son loves it and often requests it at bedtime - and he can and has read it to himself now several times. He likes the illustrations and the snippets of humour ('Squelchy in here, isn't it' is his favourite bit I think!). But I think what is really fantastic about it is that it manages to convey this huge concept very clearly and in a child-friendly way; and while sticking to the latest scientific thinking on the subject it is free of scientific jargon. There are hardly any really good books on evolution for young children so it was great to discover this. Should be compulsory reading for all primary children, I think!

fun to read and accesible - handy for answering difficult questions.
Very handy for answering the difficult questions: 'Who was the first person on earth? and if they were first who were their parents?' my daughter demanded to know, I tried to explain but soon realised that my own understanding of the origins of life and evolution was a bit patchy. This book is a great resourse. I found the rustic illustrations to be simple and charming, and very helpful in explaining and adding colour to the text. The explaination of the story of the origins of life and our evolution is clearly told in language that kids understand. I did feel that some concets were oversimplified - I would have liked more info about what is described as the 'tiny floating bits' that were the origin of life, I find this aspect - the origin of the first cell, quite fascinating and i am sure my kids would too. Overall a very usefull book, fun to read and absolulty accesible. My kids will read and talk about it amongst thereselves and my daughter now considers her questions answered.

Nice and clear introduction to evolution for younger children
This book has lovely pictures and a clear narrative style. I bought this for a 5 and 7 year old. The 7 year old enjoys RE and I bought this as a bit of a counterbalance to make sure he gets both creation stories! He devoured the book and really enjoyed it. Some of the words are a bit complicated for my 5 year old so we need to spend a bit more time on reading this to make sure she gets it. She also loved the illustrations. The whole book is very nicely produced.

Our son loves it. A good way to counter the Catholic religion class and its creationist teachings
I bought this as I became concerned that even if our son is not getting a religion book in class he started to tell us God created animals etc. So we asked around and this book came recommended. I wasn't sure of the drawings but my son is now obsessed with volcanoes and loves telling everyone how our planet came to have animals and humans - he calls adults humans, too, which is quite hilarious.Nana isn't pleases but at least we are countering the local school's one-sided views on religion.Next I'll start looking for a book that explains all the main religions and the cultural impacts. It is tough to bring up a child in a local country school in Ireland when you're an Atheist 😂

A good introduction to understanding the begginings of life and evolution.
I bought this for my 5 year old daughter and it has been read to her quite a few times, the writing has a nice flow and does not in any way talk down to or patronise it’s readers, but is concise, clear and quite humorous too, I’ve enjoyed reading it and the pictures go nicely with the text. I’ve also “caught” my daughter reading it while I’ve been out of the room. I bought this book as a companion book to Neffy the Dinosaur and various volcano books.

Brilliant book for young kids
This book is brilliant at explaining the complex theory of evolution to young children. My five year old son absolutely loves it and reads it every day. It’s got a lot of mileage in it as children get older and begin to understand more of the information in it too.

Perfect for my 6-8 year olds!
We used this for the joy and fun of learning about the wonderful process of evolution! This book was so accessable and easy to understand for my six and eight year old children! Lovely illustrations, but you should certainly supplement with real life images of animals and humans when you can to further their experience!

Wonderful book
Wonderfully illustrated and narrated for the target readers of 4-5 year olds. My daughter loved it. Author tried to keep it as simple as possible so that the sequence of events could be understood by kids.. I'm happy that they didn't try to complicate the book by trying to achieve perfection on the theory part..
