interchangeability
i also purchased the magnifying glass/light but the thread that is on the long version of the gooseneck holders is different to the magnifying glass it should be the same so it can be changed with the short and long moveable arms

Superior Third Hand Design
I use this attached between a PV 201 "Junior" and a 312 base / tray mount, and it works quite well as a tool for small electronics soldering / other work. Compared to traditional thumbscrew / ball joint type third hand tools this is much easier to position, though if the arms are bent to a sharper radius they do "spring back" a tiny bit, so getting tiny components exactly where they're needed takes a little bit of adjustment. Having four basically independent arms makes it much more flexible and versatile than the typical third hand with two clips, but also requires a bit more planning when setting up your work piece to make sure the arms aren't in your way while you're trying to solder / etc. Overall it seems very well made and should last a long time, only modification I did was to put some thick heat shrink on the clips just like a normal 3rd hand.

Exactly what it's supposed to be
For me this is a great product. I recently picked up two new interests and my PanaVise 350 is a big part of both. One hobby doesn't need helping hands, but the other almost always does. The movable arms allow me to use as many as I need, wherever I need, and then move them out of the way, or remove them entirely if I want. The plate adds a nice weight to my vise, and while it overhangs the wells in the tray a little, because of the contour of the wells all parts are in plain site and easily reached, in the front and side wells, at least. The arms are sturdy and flexible. There is some spring back, which may go away in time, but I just put the arm close to where I want and then position the part in the jaws. Precision requires some fiddling, but it always does. Once in place it's pretty much there. You can bump it away, but if you're a little careful it stays where you put it. The jaws have full rotation and lock easily and securely, and have silicone sleeves to protect wires and delicate parts. All in all, this is a great product, and it actually surpassed my expectations, which were high, based on how great this seemed to be on the webpage. It's not lab-grade equipment, but it's not supposed to be. This is a solid, functional tool for hobbyists or makers, and that's what it is supposed to be. Well done.

Problem Solved
I pretty much hated the original version, the bolted-in-place arms weren't well thought out, they often hindered other uses of my Panavise and were more than a nuisance. Once they switched to the magnetic type arms that changed significantly, and... this company was absolutely first rate in regard to how they handled my low satisfaction with the original type.I'm still not thrilled with everything about it, but I think well enough of it, and of this company, to up my rating to a very solid four stars. Those working with slightly larger items than I do, and/or who do not use the Panavise tray base will likely give this item a full five. Here's the bits that cause me to award only four stars to the current version of this item, BUT, the different model (deluxe, with large flat plate and 5 arms) I eventually wound up with is unquestionably a Full Five: The arms are bit too springy for very light objects (but that issue does reduce with use) causing some positioning issues with close tolerance work, but, with the magnetic base now on the arms I can more easily fine tune their positioning, so my largest gripe is now more-or-less solved. If you also use the 6 tray Panavise tray base, then the way this is cut out partially blocks the tray compartments, making it difficult to retrieve very small items from underneath the overhangs, it's not an issue if you don't also have the tray base, or if you don't typically work with tiny objects. The construction quality is very good. Heavy steel, no sharp edges, precise cutouts, and what seems to be a very good powdercoat. If you have the Panavise 6 tray 8" diameter base; get the deluxe model and then just place the entire Panavise setup on top of it. It is very stable, and it projects just far enough on each side of the round tray base to usefully attach the magnetic arms, and... you can also use it independently. I've found that setup to be far more flexible than this one which attaches directly to the Panavise, but it does take up a bit more space on your workbench, or a lot more space if you don't have the 8" diameter 6 tray base.

The Best Helping Hands Device Hands Down!
Used it for the first time this past weekend to hold a small input jack for my speaker cabinet. Made soldering the 4 wires so much easier! 10X's better than those silly metal helping hands which are so limiting as to what you can do. Not these quad hands! The length of the arms are perfect, long enough to make all the moves and hold your electronic part precisely where you need it. The arms are just the right stiffness to where they stay put but also can bend to whatever position you desire. The only suggestion I had was to add a 5th hand with a small LED light on the end of it but you can achieve a similar result by strapping a small pencil flashlight to one of the four arms. The base is solid and doesn't take up much footprint and doesn't have to be upright to work properly either. Love this device!!! And the customer service was excellent as they shipped a set of those protective rubber/plastic things for the alligator clips lickity split and offered to send more when these wear out. Great product and great service!
