A Solid Sketching Set
This set packs a punch. The pencils are of good quality. The selection of values favors the darker (softer) spectrum of charcoal pencils. Those are the 2B,4B,6B,8B,10B,12B, and 14B. On the lighter (harder) side you get F, 2H, and 4H. Finally, what I consider middle range is included with a B and HB pencils. I have no issues with that, since I tend to like darker values when using charcoal pencils. It is a good addition that there's a white charcoal pencil included as well. The only pencil that I don't think is of value, at least to use with this particular set, is the included pencil eraser. It works well with the H and F values, but not with great success with the rest of the set.Another reason why I'm not giving a 5 stars, is that the pencils feel a bit light. Lighter than most charcoal pencils that I use. There's also an 0.8mm white gel pen, which is nice to have.If all of this is not enough, there are four blending stumps (size: 2,3,4, and 5), a plastic eraser and two small size kneaded erasers. That's what I meant by it packs a good punch. I believe this is a really solid sketching set and it won't break the bank like other over-priced charcoal pencils.

Ok student starter set
This Brusarth Drawing Sketching Pencil Set - 22 Piece Graphite Pencils, White Gel Pen, White Charcoal Pencils, Eraser Pencils, Erasers, Blending Stumps for Drawing, Sketching, Shading, Blending set of pencils is good for students. The pencil quality is decent. The graphite does appropriately step down from 14b through 4h. Takes a bit to get the same coverage as I get from my professional tier pencils. The eraser pencil is sort of meh. I didn't get great results with it, but in the right situations, it will be useful. The vinyl eraser works about as well as the eraser pencil. The kneaded erasers are both wafer thin - about half the depth of what I get at my local art store. They work ok though. The tortillons have a bit of texture to the ends which is a nice touch since many don't have a lot of grit to them. The charcoal and gel pen both work ok. The pencils out of the box are not all sharpened the same. Some are barely sharp, some are just fine, and some are still blocky like they never finished getting sharpened. No idea what's up with that.

Nice set for students or budding artists.
My son has recently gotten into sketching and I thought that he would love to try out some pencils that were made just for drawing. He loved trying out the different pencils to see how their hardness or softness effected the shading. The white charcoal and eraser pencil come in handy for taking away values when doing shading but not to erase hard lines. The old pink eraser still works the best for stuff like that. The putty eraser is a neat tool for a new artist to use as well. He was excited to see how he could roll it across the outside of his drawing and pick up all of the graphite that got deposited outside of the drawing. The blending stumps are a nice touch too and an improvement for anyone just beginning and using their finger or a kleenex to blend lines. I think that this is definitely a great starter set for a student or budding artist but maybe not for someone who is serious about art.
