I bought 2, thinking they were fast-wear and replace items. I was mistaken. after a year, I am still using the first one on a mic that I use practically every day. I do not remove it when I pack up the mic for travel; I leave it on, and put the mic into a padded carry bag, foam cover and all. After a year, it still has no smell either... it not that I have a halitosis problem, its just you'd think a year of having someone breathe on a bit of foam, eventually that foam would start smelling like breath. Not the case! I compared the sound input before and after the foam and noted no difference. I got this to prevent wind noise, spit and some popping of p's. I don't think it does any poppin p prevention, but it has kept the grill on my Sennheiser microphone pristine. The few times I have performed with it outside I can't tell if there was enough wind to make a difference.
