My mom has always drank that crappy instant green tea stuff from 4C. I figured I'd buy her a tea pot and these tea blooms so she could taste the finer things in life for once. She loved it! Beautiful tea presentation except for the string strands
The tea bulb was placed into my clear, glass boiler and saw some thread fluff snagged on the flower part that opened. The tea bulb opened beautifully, probably the prettiest tea I've ever had. I think I tasted a hint of sugar with the tea in the "Double Blessing, Jardin japonais" one.The flower is held in place by string. After steeping the tea, I could see a lot of broken string bits swirling in the tea. It's probably fine to drink, but I passed the tea through 3 layers of coffee filters that strained most of it out anyways. It would've been nicer without the string bits.

A fun and colorful housewarming gift.
I bought this as a housewarming gift for a friend I was staying with. She loves tea. She had heard about blooming tea, but had never seen one. She did not have a glass teapot, or clear glass mugs, so we ended up using tempered glassware so that we could see the bloom. Oh it was such fun. We sat and watched our tea bloom as we visited. It was quite a conversation piece. A very fun gift for a good acquaintance. The flavor was not spectacular. Quite average, but worth the artistic display. We didn't want to throw away the spent flowers. Just beautiful.
