Peter Lord presents a history of Welsh visual culture over five centuries, from the Renaissance to the end of the 20th century, showing how Welsh art developed in a national context and how the country itself was transformed from the Glyndwr Rebellion, through the industrial revolution to the eve of devolution. The text is illustrated with some 400 paintings, prints and sculptures, from anonymous 15th century wall paintings to works by 20th century artists including Gwen John, David Jones and Alfred Janes.
