Amazing Dutch Oven
I ventured into sourdough baking and was looking for a bread baking Dutch Oven that was of good quality, but did not cost hundreds of dollars. I saw that this Kook Dutch Oven had good reviews. I liked that it was oval shaped and had a smaller profile than the round ones I was seeing. It was on sale, so I thought I'd give it a try. It arrived securely packaged and well protected in it's box. I unwrapped it and was very pleased with it's appearance. Mine is blue with white interior. It's quite weighty and substantial and appears to be very well made. It comes with the main "oven", lid and a lid removing tool. I couldn't wait to bake my first loaf of sourdough bread and the Kook Dutch Oven did not disappoint. The oven helps me produce perfect sourdough loaves with crispy, brown exteriors and soft, lofty interiors. I have used it for several months and have baked at least a dozen loaves including white, wheat and rye and have had great results each time. The Kook Dutch Oven washes well and still look new. I would highly recommend buying one.

Researched and approved! Amazing bread oven pan
After doing some researching and analyzing a multitude of Dutch ovens and cast iron bread pans, I chose this particular item. I have been making sourdough now for about a year and attempting to find the best way to obtain a high rising batard loaf. There is not much information online about the Kook bread pans, so hopefully this is helpful. The weight was 11.6 lbs (which is a heavier pan and retains heat well). The measurements of the inside at the bottom are 9.25” x 5.12”. Which using a 10” oval banneton works well. The product appears to have a nice enamel finish inside and was packaged well when received.Using a 500g flour loaf, fit perfectly. I followed the manufacturer’s instructions with temperature of 450 degrees. The bread loaf picture is the first one attempted in this pan. I used parchment paper when placed in the preheated pan. The only additional step that was done when baking was to add two ice cubes in bottom prior to putting bread in. The lid sat tightly on top and was easily taken off with one hand using an oven glove. As you can see from the picture, the loaf height is 4.5”! After baking, crust was very crisp with soft inside. I am very impressed with this purchase and recommend. Looking forward to baking loaves like this in the future.Just a follow up on this after 7 days of using. I have now baked over a dozen loaves. Everyone of them has turned out better than any other baking pan used in the past. This was an excellent choice.

Perfect for my sourdough bread recipe
It arrived in perfect condition. I used it the next day for a loaf of my sourdough sandwich bread. It turned out perfect. It was easy to clean. It’s cast iron so it’s heavy but it’s just the right size for a loaf of bread so it’s not as heavy as if I used a larger Dutch oven. I love it so far!

Great little Dutch oven
The media could not be loaded. This Dutch oven is a perfect size for a 1 pound and a one and a half pound loaf of bread, It doesn’t take up a lot of counter space and is a very handsome look on my counter 3 quart capacity still has some weight to it for someone who has physical challenges is heavy, but not too heavy great quality. I would suggest seasoning the inner rim of the lid and pot because it does not have any enamel on it, I believe they did that so that the enamel would not chip on the pot all in all it’s a great Dutch oven and I also love that you can use the lid to sauté small portions of food.

Great little Dutch oven!
This is a great little Dutch oven. I have to be honest I bought this one because I loved the way it looked. I don't really bake bread, but I am very tempted to try now.I got this thing as a one step solution to cookware. I use it for everything. My family is small and I just have to cook for 4. This does that, just. It is large enough to cook stew for 4 people with no leftovers. The lid is large enough for frying, although a bit awkward in shape. I find it cooks bacon well and is great for chorizo and eggs. You can fit a NY steak in the lid nicely, but one at a time, so make it a thick boy and split it. I've made countless pot roasts and it's not terrible for Shepards pie. I know it's for bread, but it's a Dutch oven, cook what you want in it. I love mine, I can cook just about any dish in this cute little pot.

I like the shape, just not the design.
Its a beautiful pan. My only complaint is the handles to get the lid off. It comes with a handle to pick the lid up, but the handles are so close together its hard to get the handle in it and when the oven is 450 degrees I'm not trying to lose all my heat in the oven while I'm taking a lid off. Its not hard, just difficult. It functions as should, cooked the bread okay; a little underdone in middle though. I love the tradional loaf shape though vs the round pot. Just going to take a minute getting used to. Easy to clean.

Great
Overpriced, yes. Heavy, yes. But it holds up very well. Cooks very evenly on bread. Bread is all I've cooked in it.

Bakes a better loaf than my round dutch oven
I have a lodge combo dutch oven that I use for my round loaf. I wanted to be able to bake 2 loaves at the same time and I decided on this because the reviews were good and it would fit in my oven. I'm glad I bought it. I am not familiar with enameled cast iron and do kind of miss the bare cast iron. However, I will say that I use the exact same process and recipe in both dutch ovens and this one turns out consistently better. It has more rise, more expansion and is easier to cut once cooked. The slices fit into my toaster. I have honestly considered buying more of these to cook more loaves at once because I feel they bake so much better and the shape is more functional. I do use a sling and I had to trim it to fit.
