A well made strong SS garlic press … but for me the cleaning of it is a problem. A small nylon brush is supplied, but bristles are too soft, so fail to clear the garlic from the holes.

This kitchen gadget does exactly what it says it will. It presses garlic and produces a paste like consistency which is ideal for most recipes. However it is much more versatile than that. It will also handle numerous different foodstuffs that need to be mashed with the only limiting factor being the volume that needs processing. Large volumes are more suited to a blender but that isn't ideal for small amounts and that is where this press is invaluable. Just after receiving this utensil I wanted to make some guacamole which necessitated mashing two avocados. When I removed the flesh I found that it was a little firmer than I had thought and it wasn't going to mash easily with a fork. I do have a blender , which would have done the job, but there would have been a lot of waste and cleaning up. I turned to the garlic press. By cutting the avocados into bite size chunks and taking things steady I soon had the job done and with very little waste (see photos). Not too much effort was needed and the avocado paste was of just the right consistency, coarse but not lumpy. I was very impressed. The press feels good in the hand., is easy to grip, easy to squeeze and is very efficient. You don't end up with sore hands. One thing you do need to be mindful of is , because the part that actually does the pressing is fixed on a hinge , you may need to guide it into position so that it enters the chamber containing the foodstuff correctly. Once or twice I found that it fouled the top edge of the chamber and wouldn't progress down to do the work. Not a great issue , if you are aware, but something to watch out for. In addition to it's main function it can also be used to open beer bottles , crack walnuts and scrape scales off fish. I don't really imagine that I will be using it for these auxiliary functions but who knows ? Any port in a storm. Regardless of using this press to it's fullest potential at £4.95 (at the time of writing) for a robust stainless steel utensil, that is a pleasure to use, I feel that is delivers outstanding value.

The garlic press whilst works (as in you can get your garlic crushed) the design of the pins and holes is a neat addition to push out the majority of garlic and not leave a film behind like some others is where the good points stop. The quality as seen in the pictures is poor with not a smooth flat surface and the ergonomics are not great in the hand.

Sicuramente non è un prodotto "professionale" ma la cosa importante è che fa il suo lavoro e costa poco.

Me lo ha fatto acquistare mio figlio che si diletta in ricette di cucina. Ha detto che è uno strumento molto utile e ne è molto soddisfatto!
