Quite spooky storyline!!
The illustrations are beautiful. However I've a problem with the storyline especially in the end where the father writes to the little girl to keep protecting her little brother and mother. It's not a child's duty to protect mother or sibling, I believe. It shouldn't be even in a story! If my 3.5 year old shows interest in this book I'm going to skip the last page!!!

Magical bedtime story.
I remember reading this book as a child at primary school. The school one had pages missing from it so I never knew how it ended!I love the film the labyrinth, which apparently is based on this book. My partner finds the book scary :D and my child loves it, and refers to the baby in the book by our new baby’s name. It’s a fun nostalgic read for me. Some adults might find it slightly disturbing.

Meraviglioso

There... Over and Outside
I really love the depth of Maurice Sendak and his stories. Outside Over There is a bit of a strange and creepy book, full of deep meanings. Illustrated amazingly by Sendak, it's a story about a girl left somewhat alone to care for her baby sister. Hooded "goblins" steal away her sister right from under her nose and she's not going to have it. Ida does all she can because she loves her sister and knows that she is responsible for any harm that comes to the child. The message at the end is heartwarming and many kids in today's society can relate to having to take care of their family in one way or another.
