Works as long as I can see the item
I put this on my kitten and was only able to find her in my home. She had to be within a few feet for me to hear the beep. I tested the device from 8 miles away and it keeps showing where I'm at not the cat. I'm going to try the second one...but so far these were a waste of money.

Works great with android, have NFC bluetooth provisioning
These pair of tags came with red and blue key ring collars. Inside they have a small round circuit board with red LED (visual indication) and buzzer (audible indication). They run on replaceable CR2032 batteries. They don't have any buttons which is great. I have different brand tags attached to my car keys, they have power buttons that always activated and started beeping in my packet which was very annoying. These are new generation they are activated when build-in accelerometer detects motion. I used Android's iTag app to register and pair them. They use NFS for secure pairing. They beep and blink once pairing is completed. You can activate LED blinking and buzzer beeping from the app when you need to locate attached items.
