Great lens
I'm hobbyist with 10+ years' experience but never tried f2.8 telephoto zoom, mostly intimidated by the size/weight. This lens totally refreshed my impression. On a7c2, I can't feel noticeable difference between this and my standard 2.8 sony zoom and won't hesitate a sec to bring it out. Sharpness and bokeh are excellent to me, AF is good enough to stick to moderate speed object like cat or child, no complaint so far.

This lense is in a league of its own
If you don't want to buy the Gmaster and you want something not as heavy as the Sigma, This leanse is not just a great option, it is the best value of all those 3 lenses. Sharp, great autofocus, good weight and good build quality

Fantastic Image Quality, Questionable Durabilty
This lens is sharp, pretty fast and overall quality shots that rivals that of G Master lens for half the price. It is also fantastic for close up macro shots and with minimal focal length. Please see pics I have attached on my recent trip with my Sony A7C II. However, this lens quit working after 2 days of shooting. My camera would show flashing aperture value and wouldn't allow for autofocus function and force into manual focus, and the manual focus ring wouldnt change focus meaning something had gone wrong internally with the drive motors or drive by wire system so I requested a return. This malfunction left me with the 28-60mm Kit Lens and my 16-35mm GM lens for the rest of my trip and lose valueable shots most appropriate for this lens. Being my first Tamron lens, I was so happy with the photos I was able to get out of it on the first try but very dissapointed that it quit working after roughly 50-60 shots!!! The lens was not mishandled, not roughed around and it was handled with great care just like my other lenses. My 16-35 lens remained on the body for the rest of the trip and was very effective. Hopefully Tamron can figure out what happened and can offer a better solution unless I just got a bad unit.

A blessing for beginner photographers!
The lens quality is superb! You get the same quality at a fraction of the cost of a normal Sony lens! The value feels like I’m stealing but the quality doesn’t make it seem like it’s cheap. Image stabilization is ok! And the weight is perfect compared to other 70-200 lens

I've had a lot of 70-200's in my life
I've had a lot of 70-200's in my life form Canon and Nikon but this 70-180 is by far the best of them. The images are razor sharp wide open at 2.8 across the range. On top of that I don't object to the light weight and small size of this lens especially if you are used to any other 2.8's. The difference between 180-200 is negligible, I don't miss it at all especially when you consider all you get in this lens. A 6 year warranty too. What more do you really want? I am really picky when it comes to lenses having been a pro for 30 years. This one is a keeper.

Very sharp. Plays well with my A7iv.
Have not found any camera functions that are not supported including super zoom.

Not so impressed! (revised)
At first I was very impressed with this new version of this lens. I had originally tested it only outdoors and with pretty good lighting it seemed to perform very well..Sadly since then I have tested it at an indoor sporting event with less perfect lighting and it seemed to miss focus about 60-70% of the time. In fact, only about 10% of images were reasonably sharp! Additionally, the focus motors seemed slow, noisy and struggled to focus. This was in low burst mode on a Sony A7R V.In the past I have photographed the same event at the same exact venue with about a 90% focus accuracy rate. The only difference was I used the new Sony 70-200mm f2.8 version 2.I really wanted this lens to work for its smaller size but the issues above were a deal breaker!
