Oppenheimer - Blu-ray
A spectacular cinematic achievement lands on physical media and works as well on the small screen as on the big.A spellbinding effort that does not really feel its runtime sprawls between time periods, between colour and black & white, from the scientific to the personal in telling the story of J. Robert Oppenheimer and his work on the Manhattan Project and the Atomic bomb. With excellent performances from Cillian Murphy and Robert Downey Jnr (who hasn’t been this good in years) as his ‘nemesis’ the film is filled out by a full roster of familiar faces. But Nolan manages to keep everything in control, so that by the final portentous scenes everything has made sense. The standard Blu-ray edition is excellent presented, with cinematography and effects all coming across beautifully. And, delightfully there are actually extras! A 72 minute making of documentary with Nolan and main cast/crew, trailers and promotional material, a featurette on the black and white elements, a 35 minute scientific Q&A featuring Nolan again and then an 87 minute newly created documentary on Oppenheimer himself (again featuring Nolan amongst others).

Oppenheimer on blu ray, excellent
Saw at the cinema originally, worth a second & third viewing on blu ray. Important subject in our world's history, but remember this is a dramatisation not strictly historical telling.

A worthy Award winner
Watching this after all the hype had calmed down, I found this film an extraordinary, interesting, really well-produced and important piece of work. A stellar cast, with many cameo roles from 'A' list actors, spoilt only by Kenneth Branagh as Niels Bohr, and his terrible Danish accent. I also appreciated the length of the film (long) as it was most definitely one to get totally immersed in. Nolan did a phenomenal job scripting and directing, and finished with a suitably chilling (particularly because it is true) one-liner from the protagonist. The Blu ray also came with some excellent 'Extras'.

Must Watch
Brilliant movie showing how the Atomic bomb came to be and the Japs getting their just desserts for Pearl Harbour. It is a slow burner but well worth watching.

A good film spoiled by poor sound.
The film tells a good start well. The excellent cinematography and quality cast is key down by poor sound in places. Poor audio was masked by overpowering music that made the dialogue extremely difficult to hear. Decidedly amateur cover-up of poor recordings. The decision not to have the cast re-record the affected speech is a huge mistake.
