Easy !!
We added a dog to our house hold but wanted the cats to be able to go in the basement and eat/ litter box with out being scared. This is a handy little door and works very well. They got used to it quickly

Awesome product. Easy installation.
Very simple installation as long as you can access the wall from a side. You will need to install a wood frame if going through the wall as I did. Wood interior doors would be another simple installation. The provided screws are cheap and I would suggest buying screws separately.

Hard to lock and unlock.
This is great because you can lock and unlock the door and it's clear (my cat likes to sit inside and watch what's going on outside). You can even lock it to use a one way feature. If kitty wasn't back inside by my bed time, I would lock it so that she could get back inside for the night, but couldn't get back outside until morning.I used the locking feature often and not only is it hard to move from side to side, it eventually broke. Took about 3 years to break though. I am getting another one as they are cheap enough to replace every few years.

various locking features
We installed this in a piece of plywood that my husband cut a hole in, then propped it up under the window. Significant savings from buying the whole thing. May not be as weather proof for us, but we'll just take it out in the winter. He also built a catio on our back porch, so they use this door to go outside freely. I love that it locks so that we can stop them from going outside when it's too cold. You can also set it to lock one way vs the other (for us, we set it so that in case they push themselves outside, it won't lock them out, they can push their way back in). Or let's say your kitty can go outside but you want the door locked when they return... you can do that too. This was a great purchase for us!Update 1/27: the weather stripping peeled off, trapping two of my kittens outside. thankfully we were home and could hear them scratching at the door. We peeled it off completely so it didn't happen again. I tried to reattach out with hot glue but it made it too thick and the door didn't swing freely. So I took the weather stripping off again. Kinda frustrated because a malfunction in the weather stripping actually locked them outside twice now and we can no longer leave the catio door open when we're not home for fear that they'll get locked outside.

Great buy for your buck!
At first I thought it was a bit flimsy, after I installed it though it is great! The plastic door comes off with a small bit of force but easily reattached. The cats really liked the fact they could see through the door as it is clear. I like the idea of being able to lock the door or set it to where the cats can either go outside and stay or come inside and stay or lock it closed or let it swing back and forth! Our cats are rather large and fit through the door with ease. Our chinese cresteds glide through the door as well with ease. The door has been installed for about 6wks now and works great! The locking mechanism does occasionally get dirty and needs to be dusted, but we also live on sandy loam soil and lakefront property, so the animals bring in a lot more dirt than in most areas.

Suited my needs nicely and at a good price.
I installed the medium-sized pet door so my cat could enter and exit the shed in my backyard. She likes to go in there to hide from dogs when friends stop by to visit with their pets and it gives her a warm place to hang out in the winter. Quality was fine but the screws are fairly soft metal and will strip out easily so pre-drill your holes first.

Make Sure You Don't Need the Lock Mechanism
We bought this for the lock mechanism. Sometimes we want cats in the basement; sometimes, we don't. We've been using it for six months.PROS:1. It's an easy installation.2. The locking mechanism is easy to figure out. Cats can either (1) enter and exit, (2) enter but not exit, (3) not enter but can exit, or (4) not enter or exit.CONS:1. THE LOCKING MECHANISM IS NOT CAT-PROOF. My cats were able to run into the door while it was locked and the door would get knocked of the magnet and open. They were able to use their paws to work the slides and lock it, resulting in our oldest cat being locked in the basement without food or water for at least 24 hours, several hundred dollars spent at the vet getting her hydrated and treated, and the most guilt-ridden pet sitter ever. We warned her that our cats could use door knobs, but didn't know at that time that they could work the pet door locks. Our cats are not poly-dactyl, by the way--any cat could open this door. We have since seen our youngest cat locking the older cats in the basement using the sliders with her paw. I wish I was joking.2. The weather stripping is garbage. It was pulled out by one of our cats while she was unlocking the door with her paw.BOTTOM LINEIt's cheap and if you remove the locking mechanism so your devil cat can't lock the other cats in the basement, it's a nice little cat door. Just don't get it for the lock. I don't think my cats are smarter than other cats. I think the cat door is not as cat-tamper-proof as it needs to be.

Works really great for my own needs!
This cat door is fantastic for my needs. One shortcoming is that the locks don't seem very solid; I think my cat could definitely push her way through if she wanted to, but I don't need to lock mine anyway, it just gives her a way in to her litter box.I see other reviewers commenting that the door gets stuck open; I did not have this problem. I think what's happening is that they aren't cutting the holes in the door large enough. If you don't make the hole 1/8" or so larger than the door, the hole will squeeze the cat door and cause it to rub and stick open. The only problem that I personally had with this door is that the longer screws which come with it are very poor quality. As I was screwing the door in, the head popped off of the screw with very little effort. For this reason, my cat door is not quite screwed down tight against the "host" door. The gap bugs me a bit, but not enough to do anything about it... yet ಠ_ಠAnyway, overall a good door, just get some good screws to go with it.
