I'm a Newbie to Travel Trailers and I'm NOT a Mechanic or an Electrician. *by R***S on Reviewed in the United States on October 9, 2023* Hi, this is a review for the Trailer Light Tester, 7 Pin Trailer Plug Tester with Red LED, 7 Way Trailer Plug Tester for Diagnosing and Fixing Trailer Socket Circuit Problems.I have a 2001 Toyota Tacoma with the factory tow package.It only has the 4-pin connector and I need to upgrade the truck to a 7-pin to incorporate the electrical brakes on my travel trailer.I tried to install the 7-pin connector/adapter -- and the electric brake controller -- today. The adaptor is the type where you plug the 4-pin connector into the existing connector on your truck, then connect the other wires to your trailer's electrical brake controller, etc. That way you can haul both types of trailers a little easier.Anyway, I plugged the 4-pin connector into the 7-pin connecter/adapter and then plugged in this tester.I ran through all of the tests: taillights, left turn signal, right turn signal, and brakes. Everything was wired correctly and the LEDs on the tester flash with the signals giving real-time feedback.Unfortunately, I didn't know that I had to order an inline auto-resetting circuit breaker for the electric brake controller separately. I ordered that today.I don't have a multimeter with me on the road to test the circuits individually. Even if I did, it sometimes takes 3 hands to use: one to hold each lead, and one to hold the meter so you can see the screen. This tester took zero hands once in place. Cool!I feel confident that once I get the circuit breaker, that I'll get the rest of the wires connected properly.If I have any problems, I'll come back and update this post.For now, I definitely recommend this tester. It saved me time and, more importantly, was much easier to use than a multimeter relieving me of some stress. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars It works as a tester *by M***. on Reviewed in the United States on October 9, 2023* It works as described. You will have to have somebody else help run the vehicle controls for testing the backup lights and brake controller. I've got 4 trucks with the RV 7 pin flat connectors on them and I tested them all since each one is a little bit different in it's setup. Modern integrated brake controllers don't like to light up the electric brake (BK) light since it is able to "sense" the trailer as with my 2017 GMC Yukon. My 2003 2500HD with a Tekonsha Prodigy P2 didn't light up the brake light either. My 2004 Tahoe with a 23 year old brake controller did light it up though. So, your mileage may vary on that portion of it. As far as all of the other circuits this tests, it worked like a champ. When you hit your brakes, it will light up your left turn (LT) and right turn (RT) lights on the tester. You can verify with having your vehicle on and using your turn signal. There is a light to see if you are getting a 12 volt power back to your connector. This is used mainly in RV trailers. It does also test the backup light circuit if it is actually wired up. If it's a factory installed 7 pin connector, it should be wired up.Overall, it's nice to have this tool. I was able to find out on my 2500HD, that my 12 volt power was not getting to my connector, so maybe a fuse or a broken wire. So, it has proven it worth to me. The only issue that I have with the one I received, the LEDs in the tester were green vs. red. The red LEDs would be preferable for use at night. Overall, this is a very good purchase. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome tool for quickly diagnosing truck and trailer wiring issues *by F***O on Reviewed in the United States on October 16, 2023* I have two 2005 trucks that I use to pull four different trailers in all kinds of weather. Two of the trailers have really good wiring on them, but two have old wiring. And of course, all four of them have bulbs that can burn out. When I hook up to one, there always seems to be some light that doesn't work. This tester helps me quickly figure out whether the problem is something on the trailer or whether I've blown a fuse on the truck. Yes, you can do the same thing with a two-pin electrical tester, but this tester is MUCH faster and I'm more confident in its results.
