One Pup's Up Hardcover – Picture Book, June 15, 2010

This book keeps my son engaged because of the bright illustrations, fun pictures, and large number sizes for number recognition. A lot of number books have the objects EVERYWHERE on the page. The puppies are carefully placed in this one in a way that you can stop reading and actually count and group them. This is a huge for a child who is pre-k or kinder age. Example: the number 4 page shows 2 & 2. Two puppies on one side two on the other.. For #5 it shows 5 has a middle and it’s easy to identify there’s 5 there. (we learn this in his right start math program). The number 6 pages shows groups of 3 & 3.. and so on! Great reinforcement on the principles that we’re trying to learn.

My kids ripped our old book, so I bought this one to replace it. It is a really cute book that they both love, so it was worth buying again.

Highly recommend this early counting book, especially for dog-lovers. As others have commented, the puppy count goes up & then back down as pups wake up & exhaust themselves again. Illustrations are great, & my 6 month old grandaughter tries to pet them on each page.

My four year old son and I loved this book! I agree with the above review. I loved how the book counted forward to 10, then backwards to 1! Can't go wrong with this book, especially if you have a dog lover.

If you are looking for a nice basic counting book, you certainly can't go wrong with this one. The numbers are big, the pictures clear, and the text rhymes along at a fun pace. This rhyme is really fun to read - lots of pudgy puppies, piles of puppies, and pouncing puppies. All the puppies are clearly visible, so it works well for learning. For the numbers 8,9,10 there are partial puppies, so that adds a bit to the challenge. We get to count up from 1 to 10 and then back down again, with a spread in the middle of them all drinking out of different colored bowls so you can throw a little color learning in there too!All in all a great effort and a good choice for any young preschooler or toddler just learning to count. These puppies are very cute and expressive and will easily hook any youngster into doing a little learning! If you get one counting book for your collection, this would be a good choice. Big recommend for 2 to 4 year olds - especially little dog lovers!

I love the fact that you end and begin at 1. This combines the numbers with what puppies do every day and then you experience it all again backwards. Very sweet

My 16 month old loves dogs and loves this book! The illustrations and rhyme really hold her interest. The pages are a bit thin (I wish it was a board book for her age), but overall a great book!
