Approachable and Valuable for Beginners & Experts
First, I agree with everything said in the reviews posted before mine. This is an excellent resource. But I thought I’d take a different approach in this review and focus on the book’s approachability and its value.1) This book is very approachable, but not at the expense of depth and detail:If you’re new to learning about and addressing health issues, this book will not overwhelm you. It explains the possible problems you may face, provides natural protocols to improve symptoms, and then explains what each part of the protocol does and why. In many cases, it explains possible pitfalls of the go-to treatments doctors might prescribe, and why a different approach might be warranted, at least as a first step. While it’s organized mostly by cause, you will be able to take action to address any symptoms you may have.At the same time, if you are someone who’s done a lot of reading about health, there are a lot of valuable insights here, and plenty of connections to be made. While I’m not a doctor, it seems quite clear that there is information here that would be valuable and new to even well-trained medical professionals.I’d encourage you to check the “LOOK INSIDE!” link at the top of the Amazon page and scroll down to the table of contents. It’s big, but every single topic is understandable and quick to read, and you can skip the protocols if they don’t apply to you.2) There is a lot of value packed into this book:Pick one of the many ailments covered in the table of contents. If you ever have only one, this book more than pays for itself.Or what about probiotics, supplements, and herbs for digestion? That’s chapters 13, 17, and 18, so you can spend your money on the right one and know what you’re putting into your body. (And more on which supplement brands have the highest quality in chapter 22.)Doctor put you on a digestive medication or an antibiotic? Find out what it is, how it works, and what you should be aware of in chapters 19 and 20. You can bet I’ll check this carefully before taking any antibiotic.Even if you’re just thinking about going on a diet eliminating certain foods, that’s covered in chapter 15, with clear pros and cons to each diet option.Approachable, valuable, and highly recommended for anyone with digestive issues and anyone who wants to some insight into digestion and the gut.

Incredible information if you suffer from gut issues
Okay, I will mostly echo the other reviews here:This book has AMAZING information, and I absolutely give it and its author credit for helping me with my gut issues. Just WOW! It's an incredible resource and I don't think you'll regret purchasing it. Don't worry that the author is not a doctor. He has clearly done his research and had a vast knowledge of nutraceuticals that can help address chronic gut problems.Having said that. A note to the author (coming from someone who works in the publishing, design, and communications industry): find an editor!! You could really take this to the next level with the help of a good editor. There are some punctuation errors in the book and some issues with inconsistency. I think you (and your audience) could really benefit from some editorial help. The information could be even more helpful if it was restructured/reorganized. Just consider it for the next edition!

Probably the most comprehensive non-conventional book on digestion you will find.
Probably the most comprehensive non-conventional book on digestion you will find.I found the book to be very informative as I have had a long history of PPI use and John's book and resources led to me head down the path to realize that actually having too little stomach acid is what is responsible for my indigestion! Makes sense that the reason undigested foods are appearing in your stools is not because it is "being digested too much" or the reason that you are experiencing gas is not because your food is too well digested, but that undigested food is irritating your stomach lining and bacteria causing fermentation and gas.I also got myself tested for H. Pylori and SIBO which both came back negative which was awesome but each step taken gets you that much closer to figuring out the solution to your problems. This book is a great resource for that although going in without guidance can be an overload as many of the symptoms for different conditions tend to be similar.Cheers

I feel like a looser compared to John Brisson :-)
Great insight, great reference, unbelievable amount of structured and brief although still extensive informations. Maybe a imunitního systému little bit confusing at times but it's minor issue. I did put lot of energy into GUT problems, resolution and supplement studying in last few years but I feel like a looser compared to John Brisson, I have to recommend this to all with GUT problems trying to solve their problems on their own or simply trying to know little bit more about their body inner workings. Although I think some previous background is welcome, this is really dense and John Brisson does not take prisoners. On the other hand while being pretty thorough I think it's still accesible if you're beginning your gut exploration journey

Helpful addition for digestive healing
This book contains some helpful information and resources for a variety of digestive disorders, including SIBO, candida, leaky gut, and more. There's SO much information here, in fact, that a good index at the back would have been a great addition and put the book closer to five stars. (A skilled reference book editor could reorganize the vast amount of material in this large volume and make it twice as useful as it already is, along with including a list/bibliography citing sources of study and stats.) The large format, too, is a bit unwieldy -- but there's lots of information here for those willing to sit down and pore over the book carefully.

Worth every penny! get the paperback
Worthy addition to any library, packed with helpful tips. Easy to tailor an individual plan with the breakdown of ailments and potential solutions.. The breakdown of probiotic strains alone, is wonderfully laid out, in a simple, easy to read way. I love that its a bigger book, too! Excellent contribution to the journey of one's personal wellness, Mr. Brisson. Thank you! It's your Good Karma put into the world!

I found this book boring. Except for the few pages that addressed some personal issues, I just scanned most of it. Way too much on treatments, not enough on practical advice. I would not buy it again.

Excellent book! Well organized as well
Excellent book! Well organized as well. Having suffered from Hiatal Hernia and gerd for 30 years there is information that I had not come across.(and I have done a lot of research) Although I have just started to follow it's protocols and delve into the book deeper I expect better results than the dangerous drugs that have been prescribed so far. Thanks Mr. Brisson for you effort!

Very helpful, detailed little book
Really good book. Very thorough research and advice regarding treatment for conditions related to the gut, from an experienced practitioner. I have found the advice in this book extremely helpful and it definitely works. The treatment regimens consist of almost all nutraceutical products (vitamins, herbs and other "alternative" supplements) as well as things like enemas and postural change. It is well written, no fluff and gets straight to the point. Would definitely recommend. Very very through.

A really good overview if you are interested in (fixing) your gut.
I liked the book because it discussed everything I was looking for about the gut. The author explains briefly how the digestive system works and then provides a number of protocols for fixing specific problems. I also liked that he mentions and comments on several diets with their specific pros and cons.Suggestions for a next book would be a more in depth explanation of how the digestive systems work with graphics and references. Same goes for the diets.Last but not least it would be great if one could get the book without kindle/kindle app. But that's not a problem of the book.If there is something you cannot find in the book (like mentioned above) then you will find it on the blog and if you have any questions the author will give feedback. All in all the book is totally worth the money.
