Recommended for light duty yard work!
I bought this small cordless reciprocating saw in the fall of 2020. It was a gift for a then 75 year old relative that likes to stay active with assorted yard projects.Prior to this cordless Black and Decker battery saw they used assorted manual hand pruners or a large corded reciprocating saw. Those lead to sore hands and safety/tripping hazards. The use of the large corded saw more often than not overkill, too bulky and awkward. This item solved that. Use is not risk free, no power tool is. However there is much more range of motion so much more versatility. It is so much lighter that the large corded saw. And no more cramped hands from over use of manual pruners. It is mid May 2025 and this saw is still going strong! They just used it last weekend to cut up branches after a windy storm rolled through. The charged battery is stored indoors during winter which may have extended its life, or not. I'm not clear on lifespan of some of these batteries.Other than occasionally replacing the blades there has been no additional cost.Family is also considering getting B&D 20 volt battery string trimer & blower for this active older relative as they would be much lighter than current gas tools. Plus all three devices would share three batteries.Highly recommended for light duty yard work or projects.

Highly recommend
I got this a couple of years ago and just got around to trying it. It cut a 2-3 inch tree limb like going through butter. It took no effort at all. It went though so easily that I didn't realize it was cut. Don't be afraid to really pull up on the blade release/lock. It's light (for me anyway). It's straight forward how put together. I highly recommend this for anyone with yard work that loppers and clippers just can't handle.

Lightweight, small job perfect
Lightweight and handles well. More than enough RPMs to cut steel. Only reason for four stars is it wanted to stall out with an aggressive wood blade. Just not enough torque. Higher the teeth count, the better off it runs. As said above, it easily handled medium weight steel tube.Black and Decker tools are definitely DIY tools, but I've found the 20v system is more than enough, even for bigger homeowner projects.Still have a 60 year old corded Milwaukee for the tough jobs.

Love not having to worry about tripping over a cord
Wasn't sure how this was going to go but I have now used this saw many times. I do have another one that uses a cord but nice to be able to work in the back yard and not trip over a cord. I recently cut up some old metal chair to scrap at the steel yard and this product made quick work of the items (With the proper blade). In the garage I still use my corded one but outside I use this battery one for easy convenience. Also, if you are doing work somewhere where there are no power outlets, this is a game changer.

Handy tool at a good price
Got this because I needed to cut up some branches. Battery lasts a decent amount of time and it gets the job done. For more extensive projects I’d get a backup battery. Easy to use and cuts good.

A good choice for pruning
I wanted a reciprocating saw for pruning instead of a mini-chainsaw. I figured a reciprocating saw must be easier to use than a mini-chainsaw because you don't have to fool around with putting the chain on initially or putting it back on when it comes off its track. This is my first reciprocating saw and I had a little trouble installing the blade and snapping the battery fully into place. Once I dealt with those issues, I used the saw to cut down a twig dogwood that I wanted to get rid of. I am ready to tackle all my pruning tasks now. I have lots of trees with small branches, probably not larger than 2" in diameter that I need to prune.
