The Time Traveller, Smith: Volume 1

Leaves you walking in the rain.
Because I read this on a Kindle, I didn't even think to look at the page number until the end. I got right into it and it just ended, like it never got past chapter one. I couldn't believe it. I was even checking to see if I had some sort of approval version lol. Such a shame as it was brilliantly ahead of it's time and so full of a rich atmosphere.Left me craving badly for more. Bit like thinking how lucky you were to catch the bus on a stormy night and it's breaks down at the first stop lol.

Competent steampunk
I think the first reviewer was far too harsh. I would have been proud to have written this imaginative novella. The time travel element was adequately explained, after all it was not supposed to be an instruction manual! The language is convincing, as is the scenario of London in ruins. Perhaps less convincing, perhaps too crudely treated, is the Texican. The latter part is somewhat rushed but at least the author does not present a neatly packaged, tidy ending. I liked it. Well done and I would enjoy reading more.

What a mess
I don't know how to write a review of this 'book' without hurting the author's feelings. As I said it in most of my reviews, I eat time travel books for breakfast, lunch and supper. Don't know why, I am just fascinated by the idea of time travelling I gues. This one, which is with a stretch a novella, is a mumble-jumble of victorian science fiction with a burning desire to be considered steampunk... but it's not. I don't even remember the ending, although I read it just two weeks ago, but I remembered the feeling of stupefaction when it actually ended, like 'what?!' It's such a mess of action scene and characters that I trully cannot recommend without wanting to hurt someone.

Wow
A book written by an acid writer, not had shit like this trip since the 60s. Where do we get some. The writer should enjoy the trip and refrain from putting pen to paper.

The Time Traveller
This book is not as good as I expected, but it was ok for a poolside read. Doctor Who it is not.
