Questions and Answers for the Diploma in Occupational Medicine, revised edition : Clare Fernandes: desertcart.co.uk: Books Review: By far the best revision guide/practice questions book for DOccMed/Part 1 MFOM. - I sat the exams in November 2018 and passed with over 75%, where I found that despite completing a course prior to the exam, I was still lacking in learning points and practice questions. This book was VERY SIMILAR to the actual exam format and the learning points from the answers allowed me to plug the gaps in my knowledge. I'm not entirely sure why there is negative feedback for this book, as since I have passed I recommended this book for 5-6 others who were going to sit the exam, and they also praised the book and passed first time! MUST HAVE for the exam! Review: It's a useful little book - It's a useful little book, but there were a few mistakes among the answers which was a bit unsettling ...

Errors are unsettling
Widely used resource for the diploma exam but it is riddled with errors which can be frustrating if you don't know better. Definitely needs updating asap.

Great resource for DOccMed MCQ
Very useful question and answer book. Really helped me in understanding the breadth of topics needed. Question layout in my opinion was very similar exam. Excellent resource to use in conjunction with HSE website etc. Passed first time!!!

Must have book
Very useful for the diploma/ part 1 MFOM. Bought as saw was rated 5* by the reviewer in the Journal of Occupational Medicine. Style is very similar to the exam and covers a wide breadth of the topics that appeared.

Very similar to style of actual questions
I sat the exams in Nov 2018, and bought this book in the week beforehand (having only just realised it existed). The style and format of the book questions was very very similar to what came up in the real thing. The practise questions we'd done as part of our course were actually quite different, so without this book I think I would actually have been quite shocked! Yes, there are a few answers I'm convinced are wrong, and in a few areas it will need updating (eg data protection act GDPR that only came in this year, Dame Carol Black report), but overall a definite help. Would I have passed without it? Not sure, as the questions are very vague and 'best fit' and you can argue that a few answers could be right for each stem. But working through this book helps you get into the mindset to choose between 2 correct possible answers into why one is 'more right' that the other. I also found it helped with some questions that came up in the viva, which I would never have been able to answer without it.

Helpful resource but did have mistakes
Was good apart from the few mistakes which led me to do more research and came across a website called occhealthmcq which i believe helped me pass the DoccMed exam. I would also recommend it for those sitting the MFOM part 1 exam.

Lots of errors
Unfortunately this is one of the very few revision resources available for the DOccMed but this book is riddled with errors! From typos to factually incorrect information. It’s a shame. However the range of topics it covers is good, as long as you read around the subject matter and don’t rely on this book to give you the correct answers all the time you may still find it useful preparation. A review and new edition with corrections would be amazing!
