The Untamed: The Official Artbook (Hardcover)

Well worth the price, but don't think of it as an artbook
I was on the fence about buying this, given some of the other reviews. I am so glad I did. The book I received was in excellent condition. It is true that some of the artwork is lost to the binding, because the book is not bound flat, but the overall quality of the artwork is still evident and the portion lost is quite small. The binding itself has been done with thread, to better preserve the life of the book. The amount of material in the book is shocking. There are interviews, photographs, art, BTS insights, storyboards, song lyrics... the list goes on. Only about half of the book is art, so it might be better to think of it as a compendium than an art book. It is true that there are small errors (as others have pointed out) in the book, such as mixing up the clan symbols and colors in the Table of Contents. However, there are 312 pages and lots of material: if the relatively few mistakes will outweigh the rest of the content for you, do not purchase it. But if you will be able to enjoy the rest regardless, it's a great buy.

Very Insightful
I got this book for a friend and didn’t find interest in it but looking through it, this book is really cool! Plenty of illustrations, I tried from the actors, props, character profiles. Wish there were more books like these!

Nice book
I love the series The Untamed. This book has beautiful photos. I just wish it had artwork inspired by the series.

Wonderful book
I love it so much. It has pictures of the whole Untamed and all actors and of the decors, costumes, everything. Also some pictures from the donghua. it’s big and very well printed.

Obviously a rushed job, error filled…
I was so excited for this book as the original versions looked so pretty, but I needed it in English. In all honestly, the quality of the book I got feels like a self published/Walmart photo book rushed feel. Yes, it has a ton of photos, which is why it gets the 3 stars, purely for the collectedness of it. But sooooo many errors in the information… from clan symbols wrong to character names wrong to picture layouts getting messed up in the spine. I have had mine a few days and I can already see some warping of the pages happening from just sitting on the shelf. It feels like this was a rush job for a quick money grab from the fans…

So many mistakes!!!
Did Seven Seas even proofread?? There’s so many mistakes from mixing up the clan insignias in the table of contents to incorrect info. There are also random blank spaces everywhere where they have captions without photos. Also, a lot of the art work is hidden in the book folds. So you can only see the background but not the actual character/subject of the picture. They left out two pictures of Wei Wuxian's outfits from the Burial Mounds (outfits 11 and 12, both on page 68) and half of the responses from Wang Haoxuan (him thanking his martial arts instructors) on page 222 and Ji Li (the rest of the story about filming in the creek at Cloud Recesses) on page 223.They also left off the sentence about Jin Guangyao being part of Three Zun with Lan Xichen and Nie Mingjue on page 168.The entire section about the Lans also seems like the color balance was way out of whack-- so many of the pictures of outfits and accessories that in the show were clearly a light (baby) blue are washed out to white or grey. And the list goes on…
