Addis Outdoor Rectangular Dustbin with Lockable Lid, Grey / Black, 90 Litre

This bin was fine. Just as I expected. The lid dose sometimes fall off when you open it but I seem to have found a knack of opening it without that happening. When it dose fall off takes a second to put back.

... in my case this was a larger replacement for a standard round dustbin that I use for steaming the Pony hay. I did read other comments regarding the lid hinge causing problems for some people as it tends to lift off when wide open which I can imagine is annoying when trying to load two bags on a windy day however, for me this was easy resolved by drilling a couple of small 1mm holes in the lid just behind the hinge pins and adding a loop of thin twisted wire through them that then prevents the lid lifting off. NOTE: any modifications would invalidate any warranty I’m sure so on your head be it (maybe the manufactures might consider adding this modification themselves?) The material is not as thick as you would expect however due to its shape it seems it would be more than fit for purpose as a general waste bin. Again the size is similar but slightly (maybe 120mm) taller than a standard round outdoor dustbin but being square in shape it does seem to hold considerably more. In my case the bin remains static in an enclosure, but I would suggest it's light enough to be blown around in an exposed location and would probably suffer if doing so, especially to the lid and closure catch. I can now fit around 5 good size Shetland pony hay nets rather than 3-4 in this bin at any one time, which is connected to a Black & Decker wallpaper steamer fed in at the bottom and on a 25 minute timer. The lid is flexible enough to allow the steam pass through the hay and escape around the top as needed I also have a thermometer in the lid so I'm able to ensure it reaches the correct temperature. On that point, for normal dustbin use I would say its a little loose and not Ideal (or you could say more ideal) if you have smelly rubbish :) . Again it depends on your intended use, As a general dustbin It does look the part but may not be as robust as others, but for me, it fits my requirements :).

The hinge at the rear of the lid is ridiculously flimsy and breaks after a short period of use. See the many other reviews saying the same thing. Do not buy this product. It is not fit for purpose. If you make the mistake of buying it, you will find it difficult to return as you will have thrown away the original box and it is a large item. Addis should be ashamed that it is producing such an inferior product.

Overall I do like this bin. It looks good and fits my large bags very well. One issue for me is the lid comes as a separate item in the box and is supposed to snap over hinge pins at the back of the bin body to form the hinge. The connection is just two open slots with no real snap and lock in. This means if you open the bin lid so that it tilts back at rest while you use both hands to extract the bag then 9 times out of 10 it will drop off. For me this is a annoying but a simple fix was to use plastic glue and glue two strips of plastic across the openings where the lid slots ion to the hinge pins. ( Shown in image, I used bits of a cut up food bag clip , any strong plastic will do ) I will never have a need to remove the lid so this works for me.

Bought this to foil the foxes, after getting fed up with them raiding our bin and flinging rubbish everywhere. This Addis bin works perfectly. It is totally fox proof. The first night there was minor scratch evidence where they had tried to get in, but to no avail and the foxes have not returned. The lid has a large, easy to grab handle and the snap lock is super easy to open/shut with one hand (handy if you have your other hand is full of dirty/sticky rubbish). I particularly like the fact that the bin is rectangular, as it fits smartly and neatly beside the house, and the muted colours blend in far better than our old garish green round bin! I chose the Addis bin as I have other Addis products and they have been well built and lasted. I was worried that the metal clips on other cheaper lockable bins would break easily.

I like this bin for its design, size, quality and neat appearance. I bought an identical bin some years ago and it served us well. The hinged lid with an easy close latch works really well, no worries about the lid blowing off. The size is just right for our needs, I can easily fit in the 75 - 85L bin liners. Overall, very pleased with my purchase.

Great bin and so useful to have a rectangular bin instead of a round one. One problem with this one is that the small plastic knobs that the lid fits onto does not do the job. Only after about 2 months it had snapped off. Lid still fits but no longer can be held open without holding it manually. It's a good size but needs manufacturer to re-design the lid holding mechanism.

I wanted something that was not over large, discreet in the back yard and above all, kept the smells in.... This bin does all that and it holds a lot... About the only issue is getting the right size bin bag... An 80l fits best in this because of the square top... There are a lot of far more expensive bins out there. This is also bang in the middle for quality and price. Well worth it...
