I sprained my ankle last week and thought that a support like this might help. It certainly 'compresses' the ankle but I could not use it for too long. The white strip see image (called piping?) that goes over and under the foot caused it to dig into the skin of my foot especially the sole. This was worse when wearing shoes or other footwear. I think that this is because the weight of a person's body all ends up on the feet.At first I thought that I had bought a size that was too small for my foot but then I realised that it was the 'piping' that dug into my skin and so it would not matter what size I used.If this had been made as a complete piece with strong, flat, elastic in place of the white piping this might have been more user friendly. That said I am no expert on such matters.I can only use this when in bed with no weight on my foot.At the price it was not worth returning.

If you want support with quality these I find are great, the material is thick and very supporting.My 3rd pair.I wear them day and night to help me.
