AWESOME!
During Covid I realized how fun birdwatching could be, so when I came across the Bird Buddy, I was definitely excited. During Covid I was doing thing manually--taking pictures of birds as they came to the feeder and then trying to figure out what they were. The Bird Buddy, however, combines those.Setting up the Bird Buddy is easy. Simply download the mobile app, create and account, pair the unit, charge the camera, fill the birdfeeder, and hang it! The entire process took less than 20 minutes (not including charging the camera). There is a subscription available for the app (of course there is), but fortunately it's not necessary at all. It allows you to see other people's Bird Buddy from around the country and world. You can see a handful for free, but this allows you to see more. Not worth the annual subscription IMO.I set up the Bird Buddy late in the afternoon, and put some sunflower hearts in it to start (which birds LOVE). I was a teeny bit disappointed I didn't get any visitors that evening, but when I woke up the next day, I had several notifications with pictures and videos (and IDs!) of various birds. Really cool. After 1 very busy day of birds visiting, my battery is at ~95% or so, so I imagine one charge will last about a month or so? There is a setting you can change that can conserve the battery by taking less frequent pics.Overall, I'm REALLY happy with the Bird Buddy. I am relieved you do not need to have a paid subscription to use it. And it all works well together. I haven't had any technical issues either. This is an easy recommendation for anyone interested in birdwatching.

Works great at capturing birds and does a good job of identifying.
This is a great concept for people that enjoy bird watching to be able to capture pictures and video at a feeder. Assembly and installation were straight forward. Pictures and video are clear and so far, all of the birds have been correctly identified. The battery has been lasting me about five to seven days on a single charge so not too bad. Feeder is easy to fill but not sure how easy it will be to clean.A couple of things that led me to rate this at 4 stars. The hanging wire is a bit weird in how it really doesn't attach but sort of just rests under the roof. It works though so not a huge problem. I have this on a thin shepherd's hook, so the thin wire hanger makes it spin back and forth. I would have been nice to have the wire lay over and keep it straight. The application works fine but has a few nuances. It takes to many steps to select what pictures you want to keep in that you have to do about 5 steps. It would be nice to hit the collection, have them all show up with selectors and in one click save what you want without going through so many steps. Especially having to answer each time if I want it private or public. Once you save an album, you should be able to easily multiselect and delete to clean it up. Unless I'm missing something, you have to select each one at a time and then remove it.Overall, I like it and I'm sure over time the app will improve.

Not user friendly, ipdate
The media could not be loaded. Pros, takes great pictures/ videos, and saves ones that you want and identifies what is there. You can send links to people and they can watch too. You can watch other feeders on the app.Con’s, comes with a fitted piece for a pole, that you must buy. Metal hanger that falls off as soon as you breath. So as of right now feeder on ground . The piece where you charge the camera comes off and can be easily lost ( reason they give you 2 extra plugs) no nugget for charger plug, so have to buy that. And is different then my phone nugget. The price, there are many others out there that are cheaper and more user friendly.Battery last tops 2 1/2 days . Definitely not worth the money

Cool idea
This is an innovative idea to be able to view the birds while they are eating. However, it did take a while to set up. You have to fully charge the unit. I had issues connecting the camera, but after a bit of research I was finally able to. The live feed is cool. But I'm not keen on going out and charging the unit every few days, a solar option would be nice.

Well built, excellent product for avid bird watcher!
This is a sweet bird feeder. It has a nice feel to it and has substance to it, meaning it is well built. I like that it comes with different mount options: pole or metal hanger. I also like the feeder scoop which makes it easy for refill purposes. No physical instructions for setup but I installed the bird buddy app and added my bird buddy. Initially I fully charged the camera and did the walk through on the app to complete setup, a very simple task. Due to weather I have not been able to setup in the garden so I will update with photos asap. In the meantime I am ordering the add-on wall mount and solar panel rooftop which should eliminate too many frequent camera charges. This is a must have for the bird watcher. Really fun.

Very much for early adopters--not quite mature
This is one of the Bird Buddy models, but critically it's the slightly cheaper model without the solar roof. That takes an already borderline proposition and makes it dangerously close to not being worth the trouble. Perhaps you're more of an "early adopter" and you have a bit more enthusiasm to help you see past the faults, here's what you're getting:Pros:You can view birds on the cameraAutomatically identify speciesCons:Live view is slowIdentification is imperfectCharging batteries (solar model addresses this)Lightweight build qualityLimited wifi coverageSubscription costI could actually live with almost all of these faults, but the lack of solar charging and the existence of a a subscription makes this hard to recommend. It's really cool when it works, but it's too slow, clunky, and lightly built for the long haul.
