Great pitter, easy to use and fast
I can only reinforce the comments of others, excellent pitter, works quickly and removes the stone and stem cleanly, does not take a chuck of pulp with it.Very productive and clean to use, no juice splatter etc. I mainly use it on sweet cherries, i find no problem with the size of cherries, they just fit in when the device is fully open, a clean press and out pops the stone and stem. Outstanding.Excellent tool, i was about to buy a second one, but see the price has tripled since i bought one, so i will wait.

Life-changing apparatus
There are many cherry pitters from which to choose. I selected this one due to its simplicity and its construction (metal not plastic). This device is fantastic! After practicing with 5-10 cherries to acquire a "muscle memory", it made quick work of the remaining pound of cherries.1) In your right hand, hold the pitter over a trash basket.2) In your left hand, hold the cherry by the stem and place it on the ring sideways so the stem projects to the side.3) Squeeze the device, thereby ejecting the pit downwards into the trash. There may be a little cherry juice splashing, so don't wear your best white clothes while doing this. After a few tries, you will determine the best position of your right hand along the pitter to provide maximum force with the least effort.4) With the pitter still in its down, depressed position, pull off the stem and drop it into the trash can below.5) With the pitter still in its down, depressed position, move your right hand over atop a large bowl. Relax your grip allowing the pitter to open and the cherry to fall into the bowl.6) Repeat until all your cherries are pitted. After some practice, each cycle takes a few seconds to complete. Note that one out of 15-20 cherries may have the pit still inside or adherent to the outside of the cherry after squeezing the pitter, which temporarily disrupts your assembly line. Before buying this, I had an old, crappy pitter that hurt my fingers and worked very poorly. I dreaded the never-ending task of pitting cherries. Now it's quick, painless, and enjoyable.

Very functional
Don’t buy a cheap plastic pitter, which will crush the fruit and make it hard to discharge the cherry. This one is well designed and works really well so you aren’t fighting to get the cherry off. Definitely worth the few extra dollars!

Works well
Seems to work well, wish it was stainless steel instead of aluminum.

Really made light work of cherry pitting.
After the third fruit salad I made this summer, I decided I really needed and wanted a cherry pitter. It's simple, pop the cherry in the little holder, squeeze, pit flies out. I was able to direct the pits into a container, my 14 year old son managed to get cherry pits everywhere in our kitchen, hallway, and bathroom. I then cleaned out our utensil drawer and found another pitter, probably more likely an olive pitter, it had the deeper sides to hold the cherries, using this on cherries demolished the cherries and made a mess. So I think a shallower holder works so much better. As it turns out, I am apparently in the minority fo pitting cherries that go into a fruit salad, but everyone seemed to love the fact that the cherries were pit free. You do need to push fairly hard, someone with arthritis or lacking full motion of their hands might not find this a convenient tool. As for me I love it, and our children fight over helping pit cherries.

Perfect for Nanking cherries (with mods)
While it may be a bit on the small side for regular sweet cherries (I have a cherry chopper for those), it works perfect for our many Nanking cherries, which are small and have a small pit. However it needs a little modification to really do a great job. First is to get rid of the piece that limits how far down the plunger can go. The plunger needs to come all the way down through the cup. I just clamped a vice-grip on it and bent it back and forth until it snapped off. Then there is the cup itself. The hole is a bit too large for a nanking cherry, many times it just drops through. So I took a standard 1/4 inch washer and modified it to fit into the cup. First I took a 1/4 inch bolt and clamped it upright tight in my bench vise. Then I screwed a 1/4 nut down part way on to it. Then I placed the 1/4 in washer loosely over on top of the nut. Then I took a 1/2 in. nut and placed it over the top of the washer and hit it a number of times with a heavy hammer. This bent the outside edge of the washer down and made it into a cup shape.I took the now cup shaped washer and glued it into the bowl of the pitter. This made the exact right shape to hold the cherry, yet the 1/4 in. hole was the right size to let the small pits go through. Voila! The perfect Nanking cherry pitter. Would probably work for small sour cherries as well.

Best Cherry Stoner Ever
This is an amazing gadget! It’s made in Germany and very sturdy. It’s so precise that it feels almost like a weapon. It’s definitely akin to an ear piercing gun. It makes a nice sound when the pit shoots out of the cherry. 10/10 would recommend.

Well made
It’s a very well made cherry pitter. My mom had a similar one while I was growing up and we used it to pit thousands of cherries over the years for canning and it never failed us. I’m happy to have this as I plan to start canning cherries for my family this year and want a good and sturdy pitter to help make the process more efficient.
