I would say it is not made in Japan. All writing goes from side to side not up and down as Japanese writing does. Its tough to say where it is made as 99% of the writing on the box is in a non english language.

What kind of plastic is this made of?

It is made of polypropylene plastic.

Can you wash this in the dishwasher?

I wash it by hand, for I'm not sure that it is heat-resistant or not.
