Finally......
I first heard of Ed the Happy Clown and Yummy Fur years ago in a magazine that covered different comics/comic imprints (after a quick Google search I think it was Hero Illustrated). From the brief and surreal description of Ed I knew I had to read it. However, as I was quite young getting my hands on a copy of Yummy Fur was nigh impossible. Years later I stopped by a local comic book store and while browsing I saw the name Chester Brown. I remember thinking "Woah, this is the Yummy Fur guy!" I picked up I Never Liked You and Paying For It and thought they were great. Despite finally getting my hands on some Chester Brown stuff it would still be a few years until I read Ed. That all changed a few days ago. While doing some cleaning and reorganizing came across my copy of I Never Liked You. The proverbial light bulb went off and I checked to see if Ed was available digitally....and...well here we are. After almost 26 years I've finally managed to read Ed the Happy Clown and I have to say it is one of the most wonderfully surreal and totally over the top comics I've ever read. Gonna have to pick up a physical copy as this definitely deserves a spot on my bookshelf. 5 stars, 10/10.....perfect.

What a ride
What a ride! I have never read anything so crazy and amazing in my whole life. This comic/graphic novel isn't for people who are easily offended.

reading this made me feel like i was high ...
... and it wasnt just because i was high when i was reading it. ed the happy clown is one of the most bizarre and original books i have ever read. i laughed out loud many times, scratched my head and said "wtf?" others. couldnt put it down. i dont have much by chester brown, will definitely pick up more of his stuff. it is really hard to describe this book, the best i can say is "surreal black comedy/horror" but that really doesnt scratch the surface here. highly recommend.

Different, but good
This book is not anything how I expected it to be, but that isn't bad. This book is filled with sex, violence, and some disturbing stuff. There is also a lot of humor and satire. The book starts out with some stories of the characters before it was a continued book, then the stories start to form into a surreal journey. Very good, but just different.

Notes
When I've read Chester brown books, I'm never really sure what exactly it is that I like. I think it's the way things all complement each other. This book has a lot of sudden moments, but it's very interesting (in a good way). I laughed more while reading this than any other book in recent memory. Certainly worth repeat reads. As with many of Brown's books, I love reading the notes almost as much as the book itself.

Chester is wonderfully twisted in words and images
I like the guy - he's sick, obsessive compulsive, and knows how to draw. What more needs to be said?

Bizzare but fun
I had read Paying for It, so I knew the style but the creativity here is really something. Not for everyone, but I enjoyed it very much. Really enjoyed the analysis at the end.

one of those things you want to re-read every year or so
i used to have one of the vortex collections, and while i prefer that format to the smaller hardbound, it is nicely bound and printed and will last forever.

Wonderful
This is the strangest graphic novel I've ever read. I borrowed a copy many years ago and was delighted, amused, engaged and slightly scared by this somewhat trippy book. So glad to find it's back in print.

Weird, dark and fantastic…just a struggle to read!
This is deliciously dark, hilarious and mildly disturbing. The only issue is that some of the text is so small I couldn’t make it out even with my reading glasses!

Happy Clown Meets Happy Customer
A classic that I bought as individual books when they were published. Very glad to have them back in book form.
