I think the strategy with the concept of "only a few problems from each section" was something along the lines of "you know one, you know them all." I beg to differ. Differential Equations is a reasonably difficult class. If you're having a hard time with the homework you need someone (or something) that can help you understand it. Neither the textbook, nor the solutions manual are helpful nor descriptive. Some answers run for three, even four pages. The problems are odd-numbered, meaning they are the ones with answers in the main text. Number of problem sets in first 12 chapters = 94. Number of worked problems in current title = 262. So the average number of worked problems per set = 2.78. So . . . if you are coming into the book looking for help with a specific problem, your chance of finding it is poor. The deal breaker for this book for many will be the time factor. In order to mine it effectively, you need the necessary time available.
