The poles come unscrew off and come in two pieces so you can choose your length. This also makes it easy to store. I used them at full length over a campfire in a large firepit. The shorter length seems like it would be ideal over a small fire, a stove or a grill. The fact that the pole unscrews from the pie iron makes cleanup easier too. The pie iron halves separate easily when using. Cons: My only con is probably a personal preference thing but it has grill ridges on the inside.
