Review: The night vision monocular is pretty decent itself. The headgear, though, is pretty terrible. The mount for the monocular is made in such a way that it will centre properly on your right eye, but not your left. This is fine if your right eye is dominant, but if not, then you will not be able to operate it properly keeping both eyes open. All in all, it was worth it for the monocular, but expect to have to buy better headgear unless your head is misshapen Review: Let me start by saying this is not G3 NV but neither is the price. For gen 1 technology I am very pleased with it. Some people complain about the need for the IR iluminator to see anything and that is somewhat true and is the case for about any NV. This NV works with ambient light such as streetlights, moon, stars, etc. Let me give you this example. Lets say you are standing near a street light and you are trying to see 50 yards away in wooded dark corner of your yard. The ambient light from the street light would allow you to see into that dark area of your yard. Kind of hard to explain but you will have to try one to see what I am talking about. I think some people that have never used NV has somewhat of a skewed idea of what they are supposed to perform and their expectations are pretty high. Fact i,s this NV device allows you to see in the dark and does that fairly well. The unit I was sent was very clear of any black spots that is known in NV, it has a couple of very small specks of black but not really noticeable unless you are looking for them. This unit is perfect for preppers, hunters, campers, airsofters, tactical units, S&R. K-9 handlers, etc or anyone wanting to see in the dark and is on a limited budget. It is compact, rugged and works for what it is intended use is. The head mount it comes with is ok at best and serves its purpose but I prefer a helmet mount. This unit will go onto a Rhino mount with J Arm with no modification what so ever. It is a plug and play if you buy the correct mounts. It screws right onto a milspec J Arm without any issues or modifications. Look around and you can find genuine GI issue mounts for reasonable prices. I found a Rhino mount and J Arm for $20 at a gun show. Keep in mind if you are not putting this on a decent quality helmet it will not be very comfortable or work as well because of wobble, and not staying in place in front of your eye. The helmet will need to have enough adjustment and stability to work properly. The monocular itself is good and when you have enough IR throw from other devices it excels. HOWEVER - unless my eyes are spread out 6x further than the average human, the mounting option is absolutely impossible to center over your eye. I am about an inch off of centering. The J-bar/arm does not allow lateral movement of the optic either. This optic could also do with a rubber eyepiece to block out some of the field of view for the eye using the optic. ...
