It does not smell like beer. It has a very mild fragrance. I am very sensitive to fragrance so usually try to find fragrance free products but thought I would try this and I think I am on my 3rd purchase. It is also very gentle on my skin. So if you are not sure about purchasing it because it is called beer soap I would say give it a try.
