Garden pine table: I heard about blotching issues-pine soaks more oil in patches-what product would be suitable to put on before applying danish oil?

Google the question. And if you can't find out any info then do a trail piece of pine or underside of what ever your oiling

I have read that this type of oil can spontaneously combust, mainly oily rags. I'm worried about applying outside in this hot weather.

You should be fine in the morning and shady spots it does tell you on the tin about not applying in high heat and direct sunlight. I've used a brush and applied 5 coats and looks great.

It is clear but brings out the grain and darkens it the more layers you apply. If you wipe the bare wood door with white spirit (which I’ve used to clean mine after sanding), the appearance before the white spirit dries is similar to after you apply a layer of this oil. You don’t need to apply much at all, it recommends 5 coats but I’ve found 3 sufficient, can always top up if they start to look dry.
