Order one size larger than you normally wear, to avoid diaper leaks.
I use these to secure my diaper and ensure it doesn't sag when saturated or wet. If it's too tight, your liquids passed will bunch up in the front or between the legs without evenly distributing through the brief as they would without a compression short. This can lead to flooding and leaks, which can be embarrassing and make it very clear that you're wearing a wet brief - as the leaks appear as half-moons in front and back around the crotch.
