Sprouts have arrived
I decided to go with this hydroponic system because I had purchased a garden timer by RainPoint and it has lasted longer than any other garden timer I’ve ever purchased. So far, I’m really glad I made this purchase. The kit came with everything I needed to start a hydroponic system (except the seeds). The directions were clear (although, the English on the box and in their marketing materials needs some work). The items were of pretty solid quality (everything is plastic, but isn’t everything plastic nowadays?; the light extension pole feels a bit flimsy, so I’m very careful raising and lowering it - using 2 hands). I do like that the light has good height extension, so that I could plant things that have a little height and adjust the light as the plants grow. I also like the bamboo look of the bottom of the container; it’s a nice touch. I wrote the name of the veggies on a piece of masking tape and then attached that to the little provided signs, as I will probably rotate what I grow and didn’t want to use permanent marker on the signs.I used a few older seed packets I had already (lettuce and spinach) and purchased some new seed packets from Burpee (veggies that don’t get real tall or large - boxwood basil, cilantro, micro greens). I got everything planted over a timeframe of a week, and I’m already seeing growth from the micro greens. It’s exciting to wake up every morning and see what growth has happened overnight! As an avid gardener that growth brings me joy! I placed the unit in my kitchen, and I can’t wait until the plants are big enough to harvest! The timer works flawlessly, the light is bright, and the motor that moves the water is super quiet. So far, so good! I’ll try to update my review again, as my plants get further along in growth.

Simple setup for indoor hydroponic gardening
This is an all-in-one basic hydroponic unit which supports plants up to 12" tall. It consists of a unit which is a tub, a cover with places for 13 plants, a submersed circulation pump, and an LED light panel. There are 13 conical baskets which hold the 13 planting sponges in the water, caps to cover the unused plant locations, and two bottles that contain dry plant food (two different types), which you dissolve before adding them to the water.Setup is easy if you follow either the user manual or quick start guide. My first test is a combination of various seeds and a few cuttings. Both the light and the circulation pump are controlled by touch sensitive pads on the top of the light panel. The light has two different color temperatures, one for vegetables and one for fruits and flowers. The lights operate on a cycle of 16 hours on and 8 off. If you turn the lights off they come back on in 10 hours. Whenever you start the lights, that starts the cycle over. The pump also operates on an intermittent on-off cycle. These cycles are not adjustable. There is no temperature control for the water, so ambient air temperature needs to be suitable for your plants. The light is quite bright, as one might imagine, so it's important to put it in a location where this will not bother you. The light can also cause substantial static on AM radios, so this needs to be factored into where you place it if that's a consideration for you.The tank is nicely watertight. There's a drain hole with plug (and a spare plug) to make it easier to change water - though this does mean removing the cover and all plants to remove the plug. The circulating pump is inaudible. The system comes with two different plant nutrients, shipped in squeeze bottles with measuring caps. The instructions say to fill both of these with water, dissolve all of the nutrients, and add 25ml to 5L of water (the tank capacity). On the whole the system is compact, fits together well, and is very easy to set up. The manual includes instructions on planting seeds and pruning the plants, as well as transplanting once the plants have enough roots. On the whole it is sufficiently sturdy for its intended use. You can use it for indoor gardens (as long as your plants will fit in the space provided) and for starting seeds before outdoor planting.

Easy, Affordable, Indoor Garden
I purchased the RAINPOINT Hydroponics Growing System Kit because it is the middle of Winter where I live, and I want Fresh, Non-Toxic, Vegetables. I was very impressed that it was packaged well and is very easy to set up. The parts are packaged by type and it even includes plant food as well. It is important to note that there are two water outlet covers. You NEED to place one in the bottom of the tank before you add water. The other is a spare. This was not explained well and I found out the hard way when water came out of the bottom. The kit includes Everything that you need to start growing except the actual seeds and of course, water. Purchasing your own seeds is less expensive than pods with seeds, and it allows you to plant whatever you want. It will accommodate up to 13 plants and even has tags so you can easily identify what is growing. If you choose not to plant in every one of the 13 planting locations, due the size of your mature plants, there are 6 black covers provided to limit any possibility of contaminates or mold. Before planting, you need to soak the seeds in water for 4-6 hours and soak the planting sponges in water for at least 5 minutes. To make it easier to place the seed in the planting sponges, there is a pair of tweezers included. The unit itself has two growing modes. One for Vegetables (non-fruit bearing plants) and one for Fruits (things like tomatoes, peppers, etc.). The main difference is the LED lighting that is used and what configuration is best for what you are trying to grow. The lighting hood telescopes up will accommodate up to a 12" plant. You want to keep the light about 4-5 inches above the actual plant for optimum growing. Keeping this in mind, you may need to prune your plants so they don't get out of hand. The water circulating pump is so quiet, I had to look inside the water inlet and see the water move so I knew it was working. The thing I like the best is that after the easy set up, it is pretty much a "Set It and Forget It." Everything is automatic so you just have to check and/or tend to it every 3-7 days or so. As the plants mature, they will use more water so it will need to be added more frequently as time goes on. If it is in a room where the light may bother your eyes, you can always place a towel over it.Overall, this is a great product and I recommend it especially for first timers.
