TROPICA - Orange Crown Cactus (Rebutia / Mixture) - 40 SeedsWorth knowing: The orange-flowering, small-sized Rebutia, about 6 to 7 cm small, is very rare, which makes it a very valuable piece for a cactus collection. Amongst cacti, these tiny little species is by far the one easiest to care for and most willingly to bloom. All Rebutia are mountain cacti and therefore tolerate heavy variations in temperature.Origin: North Argentina – highlands 1.500 meters and above.Propagation: Seeds can be started indoors at any time throughout the year. Mix fine ground cultivation soil with about 25 % of fine sand (silica sand works best). In order to guarantee that the seeds will not fall through the soil, the soil mixture should not be too coarse. Moisten the mixture with a water vaporiser and sprinkle the fine seeds on the soil. All cacti are light germinators, therefore the seeds should be left uncovered. Place / Light: A bright and sunny location is ideal. Because of its magnificent flowers, space-saving group plantings of this cactus are a wonderful enrichment for window sills. Standing heat should in any case be avoided. Care: Water only after the substratum has dried out. Young plants should generally be kept a little moister. Rain water and water free of lime are ideal. A surplus of water should be poured out in order to avoid standing water and root rotting. Supply the plant with liquid cactus fertilizer fortnightly in between boosts of flowering.Winter period: The Orange Crown Cactus requires a cool and dry place during its resting period in winter.
