This is really a great book to learn how to get the best results from Pinnacle Studio 21
This is really a great book to learn how to get the best results from Pinnacle Studio 21. I bought this book in December 2017 when I upgraded from Pinnacle Studio 20 to 21. I have been using Pinnacle Studio for about 10 years, it is stable, powerful editor. About a year ago I upgraded from Studio14 to Studio 20. I sure wish I had bought a Jeff Naylor book sooner to help with the learning curve. Pinnacle Studio 20 was a totally different product than Studio 14.

great teaching aid
It is not written in a format easy for a new video photographer to follow. It does cover a lot of information but once you get there it is hard to follow. I was expecting something that would help me learn the software and am just not pleased with it.Update: I added another star after having time to get into the book. It is designed to walk you through setting up a movie and using all the features to make updates and modifications. It is not like a Dummies style book where you can just look up the function you want but if you take the time to follow the book, you will learn the program and be well versed in its use. All the photos are black & white and that is the only reason it got 4 instead of 5 stars. You must invest time to learn the program with this book but it will get you there if you give the effort.

Jeff is a real expert on this buggy but powerful piece of pro-sumer software.
Studio has always been bug ridden and version 21 is no different. But it's also very powerful, has an easy interface, and tons of features and plugins (most of which you'll nevre use.) It's inexpensive for something so advanced and powerful and no-one knows more about using it than Jeff Naylor. His book is full of basic and advanced techniques and ways to deal with Studio's annoying glitches. It includes tutorials and materials you can download at no cost to help you though them.

Great guide to Pinnacle Studio's latest release
I have done a lot of video editing the old fasioned way -- analog to analog. Now that I want to edit HVS tapes to blue ray and DVD and digital video to same, I needed a really good guide, that would start with the basics and get deeper into the features that really make Pinnacle Studio stand out form some of its competition. I have not made it all the way through this book yet, but it seems to meet my needs quite nicely.

almost Avid
I have used Pinnacle since version 7 and really enjoyed the width and breath of this product. Now we have Studio 16 Ultimateand it is just that. Its like playing with the big kids.... It has all the bells and whistles of its Big Brother (AVID MEDIA COMPOSER, ETC) includes 2 and 3 D titling, multilayer of video and effects galore. For the non professional but serious FilmVideo maker its the best bang for the buck and them some...

Too advanced for me
It did not provide more basic material, which I was expecting. This book is for people much more advanced in the art of movie making then me.

Upgraded to Studio 16 Ultimate from Studio 15 Ultimate
When faced with a decision on my last upgrade to go Pinnacle Studio 15 or Avid Studio 1, I chose the Pinnacle upgrade route because I've been a Studio user since v.8 and I didn't want to go through the learning curve. Well 16 Ultimate is really Avid Studio 2 and the Pinnacle code stopped at v.15. The good news is that spending some time watching the many YouTube tutorial videos and the tutorial that comes with Ultimate will get you productive pretty soon. This version has way more capability than the old Pinnacle code and as you build on your knowledge it can be really fun to use. For the novice videographer (my wife is a good example), if you are not technical and just barely knew how to use Pinnacle Studio, then find someone selling Pinnacle Studio 15 and go with it instead or look at one of the less expensive consumer suites like Corel's other video product. For me, this upgrade was the least expensive way to move up to a really, really good video editor.

Pinnacle Studio Ultimate 16 is a real winner.
I've had Pinnacle editing software going all the way back to Pinnacle 9. Each iteration got better and 16 is fantastic. If you want a near professional editing suite that is easy to use then you'll love 16 Ultimate. I would suggest that you also purchase Jeff Naylor's book "Pinnacle Studio Plus and Ultimate Revealed". I t will really cut down on the learning curve. Have fun.

Insightful information
The guide book provides insightful information on various controls/features of studio 16 ultimate. The last version I used was studio 12, and I found 16 was almost like using new software. Even though the booked provided guidance it's not complete which is why it only got 4 stars.

Indispensable

Provides everything the manual lacks.
Having used an earlier Jeff Naylor tutorial book for Pinnacle(14) before I had no hesitation in ordering this one. Pinnacle 16 is so far removed from the previous versions of Studio that it can be very frustrating trying to suss out the entire program using only the manual that comes on the disc. This is where Jeff Naylor (IMHO) excels. He guides you through the whole process from install to advanced usage using a working example video, giving you invaluable keyboard shortcuts and time saving techniques along the way. The time and frustration saved (learning about this software) is worth the asking price lone.I'd also like to add a thank you to Amazon who promptly sent me a replacement book free of charge when the first one failed to arrive in the post.
