Pentair R38013B American Basket Assembly Replacement Pool Skimmer and Pump

Our original skimmer bucket kept getting stuck so we ordered this. It’s a solid pice that works well and has improved the function of our skimmer and how it sucks water. Definitely cheaper than our local pool supply store and worth every penny.

Previously I used a less expensive knockoff brand that looked the same. I’m glad I went with these this time. There’s definitely a difference in quality. This is THE REAL DEAL. No comparison!

After years of contending with an old basket this worked like a charm!

This weir requires a matching skimmer basket with notches—I realized that only after breaking off one of the tabs that match the notches (they appear to be just glued on the outside surface & come off very easily—the reason for taking off one star). Once I had both parts in place, everything worked perfectly.The weir floats with just the flat top edge bobbing gently at or above water surface, but turning on the pump pulls it down 1/8th or 1/4th of an inch, creating a steady, laminar, waterfall-like flow, rapidly skimming everything from the the entire pool surface.This was meant as a temporary solution while I address an issue with the traditional weir at the mouth of the skimmer, where it often jams, but it proved to be so effective that I’m thinking of leaving it in for good. I was concerned with how much debris it could take, but it tends to compact everything at the bottom of the basket and is in fact more effective than my traditional weir, which is missing a tab to keep it from swinging out into the pool & tends to hold stuff in the skimmer only as long as the pump is running. It even improved the “low flow” warnings from my WaterGuru (which, btw, fits perfectly inside).Definitely highly recommend the product, just be careful with the little tabs!

The floater has tabs on it and these tabs must slide into the basket's notches. It is over engineered and useless this way. I use pool socks for extra filtering and the tabs interfere with the movement of the floater. I used a grinding wheel to get rid of the tabs on the floater and it works perfectly, even with the pool socks.
