Pedagogically, this is the best chess book I have ever seen. Each of the 7 parts is devoted to one world champion and begins with an engaging introduction to his style. For each champion, there are sample games; several well-chosen exercises that are challenging but not impossible for the club player (I'm 1519 US Chess), each with a clearly articulated core principle; and flashcards for effective review. I am buying two more as gifts for my son and son-in-law, although, considering they are also my rivals over the board, maybe I shouldn't!
