No pain, more gain!
I love this. No pain = better, longer practice! My cheapo violin kit came with a standard looking chin rest that grapples the base of the tailpiece. Not only was this position not comfortable for me, it also had a hard lip that dug into my jaw and bruised me with even minor pressure. This piece covers a wider range and doesn't have a high, sharp ridge - nicely softened contours. It was well worth the wait to get it. My practice has improved immensely

Excellent design 👌
This chinrest is comfortable and versatile. It feels good and looks good. It has a simple and elegant design. Don't let the material put you off. The mounting style is nice and the feet can be moved according to your preference. It's also hypoallergenic if you have metal allergies. It's also lightweight compared to a traditional Ebony and metal chinrest.

Comfortable Chin
I am very pleased with this chin rest. It was easy to install and it sits to the side of the tail piece which has made it so much more in line with the contour of my chin. My old chin rest was positioned in the center and actually caused a lot of pain and discomfort to my chin while playing and my chin was sore for days afterwards. I highly recommend this product if you are experiencing chin pain and discomfort.

More comfortable than center fitted rests.
I'm very happy with this chin rest. As it sits off to the side and it's flatter than other rests, I don't get jaw pain from a rigid edge. It cradles the jaw much more comfortably.

Love it!
I love this chin rest! My son had a lot of issues with his wood chin rests, they were uncomfortable and he had a reaction to one of them. He has not had any reactions to this chin rest and he finds it very comfortable. My only issue was that we had one break (after about a year of constant use....my son is 11 years old and practices about 2 hours a day plus rehearsals). The feet snapped from the top...We were able to tape it until we could purchase a replacement. But, it was no big deal as it is not very expensive and he does use his violin so much. I do highly recommend it (especially for allergic children).

This is our 3rd Wittner - we really like them!
This is the 3rd Wittner Chinrest I've purchased for my daughter because we just love them. Well, she loves them for playing and I love that they're easy to attach/detach. Most young violinists don't give much thought to the chinrest they just use the one that comes with their instrument. However, when you've been playing for 10+ years you have an idea of what you want the instrument to feel like when you're playing. Also, if you tend to sweat when you play it's good to have the option of cleaning your chinrest. As a teen girl, my daughter is concerned about her skin and when you practice violin an hour a day and play in school and have private lessons that's a lot of time your jaw is in contact wit the chinrest. We like that the Wittner chinrest is made of a plastic composite so it's less irritating for sensitive skin. Plus, to adjust it you have the screwdriver that comes with it she keeps in her case instead of having to carry around bent up paper clips that she was using on the chinrest that came fitted on her new violin when we bought it.

Above and Beyond Center Mounted Chin Rest
Title says it all. I struggled to with comfort for over a year. I'm 5' and am used to things not fitting and adapting. The violin is one of the few places where adapting can affect playing. I couldn't even use the shoulder rest because of the discomfort.Until the day I bought this. I didn't even know there was such a thing. I was lucky enough to hear a fellow student ask the guest violinist about her chin rest as she had noticed it looked a little different. I figured it's not that expensive so I'd try it as she too was small and said it helped.Wow, who knew such a small adjustment would have such huge impacts! I can even use a shoulder rest now too! It is so comfortable playing and now it's always positioned right and my playing has improved because same position makes muscle memory happen more easily because even a small degree of angling the violin can impact playability when learning. If you find discomfort is an issue or can't get the right position or are small stature, don't think about getting this side mount chin rest. It's seriously the best investment you can make and it's very inexpensive and easy to install. So there's no reason not to.

A bit small....
I am no professional player and I probably need more help than it is worth holding up my violin or "fiddle". I still haven't figured out just where to place this thing and what I need on the back of the violin yet to be comfortable in holding the thing under my chin. If I had anything to say about the piece is that it is hard and uncomfortable under the jaw line. However that is probably just because I haven't got it on the violin correctly and don't know what I am doing yet!
