Didn't work

Was soooo excited to get this to hook up my other monitor. Plugged it up & it said no signal, so I tried a different on my docking station & got the same thing, no signal. Decided to unhook the adapter I already had just incase my docking station had a bad port (even through I tried all of them). Hooked up the old adapter & worked just fine, so it's this adapter that doesn't work.
