God Gave Us Heaven

The message is much more important.
Hands down this has to be the most honest children's book on heaven and what happens when we die. I fully approve. The message is so accurate my little girl just lost her father and I didn't know how to explain to her. This book made it so easy. Thank God I found this book!

I love this book
I bought this book for our 3-year-old grandson the weekend our son passed away. I like the way it discusses the joys of Heaven and both ways to get there: first by salvation then by death.I did not read the book to our grandson. I felt this was something he and his mother should share.I am a retired librarian and I bought copies for my favorite libraries.

Such a comforting book for kids after a loss
I bought this for my kids after losing their great grandma and dog in a week. It became one of their favorites and brought them so much comfort. We read this and the invisible leash multiple times a week now.

Does a good job at what it's aiming at
This is one of three children's books I ordered on Heaven. Our little 4 year old has questions about where his great-grandmother and great-grandfather who recently died are. He doesn't understand why they don't return from Heaven. So, we were looking for a book that would help him understand that question. The three books I bought were: this one, A Travel Guide to Heaven for Kids [https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/0736955097], and A Place Called Heaven for Kids [https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/0801094283].This one does the best at answering what Heaven is as relates to people we love who have gone there. It's a sweet, cuddly book, but for that reason may not be so useful if children have real questions they want answered. It doesn't give evidence for it's assertions. The adult reading it to the child carries the weight of verifying it is true.A Travel Guide to Heaven for Kids is very good at showing that Heaven is a wonderful place that kids and anyone else would like to be. It also has really great illustrations showing Heaven as a wonderful place that is just as fascinating as earth and more so. Some of the story line is far-fetched and so like many children's books it tends to blur the line between fantasy and reality (like getting a visitor's badges for a visit to Heaven that remains after the visit). And, again, no evidence that what it says is true besides the adult's affirmation who is reading it to the child.A Place Called Heaven for Kids is a book aimed at showing what Heaven is about based on verses from scripture and how to be sure we are going to Heaven. It does a fairly good job at this except that some of the verses used infer the point made rather than explicitly make the point. So, the adult reader may have to explain the link between the two to the child. Also, the illustrations seem to have a more dated style like Sunday School illustrations from the 80's and 90's. Still, it's the only one of the three that gives evidence for what Heaven is like.Depending on your need, each can have a valuable place in your library of children's books.

Beautiful children's book about difficult topic.
I actually reviewed this book to help with a book I was writing: Tessie's Tears-Corkie the Rescue Puppy that is available on Amazon, too.

Great book!
I've been looking for a book to help me better explain Heaven to my son. I came across "God Gave Us Heaven" and was a little skeptical because I had been let down from so many other books. But I'm so glad I took the chance! Its well written, and biblically sound and it leaves some room for you to explain more as as they get older.Today, marks 1 year since my sister-in-law, my sons Aunt Tami went to heaven. When asked, he can tell you exactly where his Aunt Tami is - Heaven! So today we sat down and read all about Heaven and where Aunt Tami is spending eternity. This book even explains that its not just older people who die. Sometimes its younger people too!If your looking for a good book for your children to help with the passing a loved one, or to just help you explain heaven - this is a great selection, on Amazon.

Beautiful book for explaining death to children from a Christian context
Beautiful book. Bought this to read to my son to explain my grandmother's passing - he had been very close to her. A few specific things I really liked:- Explained clearly the difference between angels and people, and that people do not become angels when they go to Heaven.- Explained going to Heaven like crossing a bridge - a bridge made by Jesus. Very nice visual for a 5-year-old.- Does not promise at any point that "only older people die." It says that usually people are older before they die, but that "sometimes accidents or bad things happen." Here is why I think this is important to include. I am an elementary school teacher, and have been teaching for 9 years. Three times during those 9 years, we have had a student pass away (5 years old, 7 years old, and 11 years old). While it's horrible that this happens, it can be made much worse if kids are promised that it never happens to kids. This book instead focuses on going to Heaven as going to a wonderful place where there will never be any more pain and sickness. One thing I wish this book included: that it's okay to be sad when someone dies, and that it's even okay to be both sad and happy (sad at the loss and happy that they're in Heaven). Kids should know that even though Heaven is a happy place, they shouldn't feel required to stay happy, or stop themselves from crying if that's what they feel. Still, overall, it was a wonderful book, very clearly and simply done, and with beautiful illustrations.
