I have a Dell 5440. This is an excellent fit, and very durable. It was a little difficult to install until I figured out that you need to start from 1 side of the cover, go around the top, then the other side rather than from the bottom of the case to the top

It's a plastic case meant as exterior protection from shocks. Looking at the photos, you can see the size of the case, it's about 12 inches long; in the second photo, it is sitting on a new Latitude 5440, which has a screen that is over 14 inches long so that you can compare the lengths.On this particular item, the Amazon policy is that you must return the small case to them that cannot be used on an actual Dell Latitude 5440 via UPS or find a Whole Foods Market where they accept pick ups, in order for you to obtain a refund or exchange. So what you get when you buy this laptop case is a part time job delivering Amazon its packages. Or they will also offer to let YOU buy the postage fees of 7 to 8 dollars. Sold by Amazon!

I was not sold on it but I ordered it anyways. It fit well (Latitude 5440) and for working on the go as I do, it protects the laptop. Adds little bulk and not much weight for my taste compared to other cases UAG for example.

I missed the number by one letter - I ordered a case for my 5440 - didn't realize I own an E5440.... apparently a huge difference between the two models.That being said - I had to return the product. It is a really strong quality cover, seems to be just (snap on) install and go. There were no instructions on the installation so you have to just go with it. Would be a good idea to put a little piece of paper in the sleeve with information rather than a bar-code label on the outside that the USPS is going to just cover up with their label.I think for what it is it's a little over priced but since I can't use it I'm not that upset at it. Definitely would be better if I knew there was a difference and ordered the right cover. Apparently they don't sell one for the E5440 so I'm SOL...
