IF YOU HATE CAT POO GO AND GET THIS PRODUCT
I have had this deterrent working in my garden for several weeks now and I can't praise it enough. My cat used to dig up my flower borders at least 3 times a day it was driving me nuts as I have crippling back problems and was struggling to keep repairing the damage. I did try those stinky gel crystals but they only work for a few days and on a hot day the smell deterred me as much as the cat. As soon as I placed this deterrent facing my border it worked immediately. My cat Winston came within 7 metres of the sensor it allowed him to come in range then it clicked, his ears went down, he turned around and ran in the opposite direction. My neighbours cat Splodge very appropriately named did walk past it once, his ears went down but I thought oh no it has failed. But!! the next time he got zapped and ran off in the opposite direction and now won't come near it. I am now considering buying a second one to protect another area of my gardenThe great thing is that even if you have a cat so long as you allow it a route past the sensor, you and the cat can still be happy. I only have one complaint and that is it does not work on foxes.Very sad to say I had to return the deterrent as after the spell of very hot weather it stopped working. I have been given a full refund now and my flowers are big enough to withstand the cats. I am considering buying another one for next year as it may have just been the heat or faulty as with any product. I still think it's amazing.

Do Not Waste Your Money!
I do not know how long these things are supposed to last, but believe me, do not waste your money. People who have put messages on here praising the device must have added their comment within a few days of receiving it.I purchased Duracell Industrial 9V batteries. These do not last a week. I think the longest period one has lasted is five days. After about two weeks, the device makes very high pitched noises. At first I thought the batteries were faulty, but having replaced the batteries several times with those mentioned above, the device still makes the very high pitched noises, and also the red light that is displayed on the small red window that you can see at the top of the device flashes indicating that it is faulty. This has happened with five I have bought from this website, and I have a cousin who is an electronics engineer and he has told me that these can be designed to accept a certain number of batteries, and after this they simply stop working. They are absolutely brilliant whilst they ARE working because I have seen cats jump three feet into the air once they have walked past the item, and then they have ran off.It is just a shame that they do not last longer, and also they cannot be made more robust for what you are paying for them and the batteries.

We're pleased with this and have already widely recommended it
We're pleased with this and have already widely recommended it. It is very tricky to deter foxes when they are being fed nearby but this has really saved my veg and fruit crops and now my flowering bulbs from being dug up. As it says, it does take some weeks for foxes to be really put off and we still see one from time to time, but I've found that the trick is to keep moving it round the garden (I think in a fair sized garden it would be worth having more than one perhaps) so they keep finding each area is a no go. Wherever we positon it, they do then avoid that area. It is also helping to deter other cats which helps our cat from getting stressed (he is not outdoors much - this would have to be turned off when your cat is outside if you have one). It is very quick and easy to set up and turn on and off. They recommend turning it off when you are in that area of the garden yoruself, which we do.

Does what it says on the tin.
I have a neighbour's cat that had been using my garden as it's very own toilet - as cats do!! I bought this cheap cat scarer to bar the animal from my garden. It works admirably. No more cat, no more cat crap. Success. Given the torrential rain recently, I decided to wrap the rear of the scarer/battery box with klingfilm and sellotape to help improve it's waterproof properties. Just the detector and sound box are exposed. This is an effective product which I well recommend.

Bought a number over the years. Of two bought in early May one has failed.
They see to be a reasonable deterrent but the switch on has always been a bit hit and miss. Think you should get 3 beeps and light flashes on switch on.Of two bought in May one was more of a miss than others we have had. Now it fails to work whatever we do. Tried new battery obviously but makes no difference.Contacted the seller but so far not heard anything from them... So now have to go into more time wasting with Amazon.

Pesky Cat Chaser
If you need something to keep the cats away form your precious flower bed then this is the key ingredient. I had tried various other ways to keep the pesky cats from pooing on my garden but they had never worked. Since the day I put this in to my garden, the cats don`t want to know anymore. I move the Deterrent around from place to place as I noticed that if I kept it in the same area, they did sometimes enter my garden but not for long enough, if they went past the infrared on the FC78. Battery has a fairly long time on it and as long as you can put it somewhere that your not walking past it every day and setting it off, I`m sure the battery will last 6+ months as I haven`t had to change ours since march this year. I have had the Deterrent now for around 15 months and despite all of the horrid weather that we had last year and the early part of this year, it still works fine and the heat this summer hasn`t bothered it either. I was a bit dubious of spending a lot of money on this, but as I have kids and I am a fairly keen gardener, it is nice to know that I don`t have to clean up anymore cat poo and even more so nice to know that my kids can play in a safe environment.
