Is the bolt steel or plastic? It's labeled as plastic on other listings.

The two I purchased have metal bolts; feels like steel.

Does it some with the threaded nipple for the riser?

Yes, the bolt you see in the picture unscrews and drops thru the center of the black piece and then screws into the bow. The stabilizer then replaces it in the brass piece. Works great once you figure it out. But it would have been nice to have directions for the first time users.

Would you consider this a durable and reliable product? Would you recommend this, or should I go a different route? Looking to utilize as a handle.

It works great for its intended use. it is strong and might work as a handle BUT I would never carry my bow that way, it would leave the string down and exposed to snagging and damage.
