Marxman Pen Marx-1-1 Hole Marking Tool

Sometimes a tool comes along, that just does exactly what it's supposed to. This Marxman hole marker is one. Apparently, it was originally, a Dragon's Den project. That passed me by, but it has now become an essential part of my tool box. Some reviews mention that when they tried to use it nothing happened, and they had to send it back. It is possible that they did receive a duff one, but be aware, chances are, that when you receive yours, it will be in the 'locked' position. You have to twist the end, so that the plastic rib, lines up with the notch. Only then will it fire (Photo). Operation is simple. Just line up the nozzle with your hole and push down. You will hear a small whoosh of air, and that's it. This standard model is good for holes upto 45mm deep. There is a deep hole model for deeper holes, if you need it. The mark itself is a circle of green chalk. It looks like fluorescent paint, it's that bright, but it easily wipes (washes) off of surfaces. The manufacturers say each unit is good for approx 250 holes. I can't verify that, but they certainly last a long time. I have included a short video of me using it with a metal clad back box. The holes aren't deep, but quite often these are fitted to uneven walls, and trying to mark conventionally with a pen/pencil can be extremely difficult. Originally, they were £ 10.00 each. But, now that they halved in price to £ 5.00, they represent great value, even for occasional DIY use. Overall, I can't recommend this enough. On internal, nice white walls there are occasions where I still use a Pica marker, but for all other scenarios, this is unbeatable. I hope you found this review helpful.

So simple but so good. I don't know how I have managed without this. This makes life so much easier. Have marked up outside lights, hanging basket hangers, etc, etc. Superb buy and so handy and easy to use. A++

Awesome idea in a great tool. The Marxman pen shoots a tiny amount of bright green chalk directly at the spot where you need to drill a hole. Each cartridge has about 300 shots in it, so lasts quite a while and is excellent value for the price. The bright green spots it leaves are very easy to spot, and if you use it right, it marks with an "X". Sometimes if your drilling a hole to attach wood to a wall, it can hard to mark the spot with a pen or pencil due to the depth of the wood. Not so with this device. I've yet to encounter a point where it couldn't or didn't mark the drill point accurately. Buy it and you won't be disappointed.

This was recommended to me by a guy who came to do some tiling, so I thought if it's good enough for a professional, it'll do for me. He was right! This is a brilliant idea, making it much easier to mark drill holes especially in thicker items that you struggle to get a pen/pencil through. It's not at all expensive considering it should last a decent length of time, and it's now an indispensable item in my toolbox.

Love these pens for jobs, leave a super accurate mark for drilling etc and ink is really bright so you can actually see it !!

Brilliant product. After using a pencil on brick to mark holes then not being able find the mark you made, this is perfect. Small easy to use. One press leaves a bright green mark which is super easy to see. Has a twist lock on the nozzle so that it won’t go off in your pocket or tool bag. Not cheap but worth the money. Will definitely be buying another one, when my current one runs out.

Wer kennt das nicht, man muss ein Teil, dass mit mehreren Bohrungen versehen ist an die Wandschrauben. Also mit der Wasserwaage ausrichten, festhalten und mit dem Stift in den Löchern wurschteln und hoffen das man hinterher die Makierung auf der Tapete wiederfindet. Mich hatte der recht hohe Preis ein bisschen abgeschreckt, aber nachdem mir ein Freund das Teil vorgeführt hat, habe ich es mir auch gegönnt. Was soll ich sagen, einfach perfekt und sollte man sich mal versehen haben, kann man es einfach rückstandsfrei wegwischen. Nur Überkopf muss man etwas Tricksen. Da muss man einen waagerechten leerschuß machen, also einmal in der Waagerechten abdrücken und schon Funktioniert es einmal in der Senkrechten. Klare Kaufempfehlung von mir.

c'est un outil indispensable pour du petit bricolage. c'est précis et ça n'en mets pas partout. très efficace pour faire du marquage de trous pour divers installation.

"Vachement" pratique. Indispensable pour certains travaux ;-)
