This stuff stings, so I try to remember not to smack it on right after shaving, or if I have a blemish (or even a paper cut on the hand doing the smacking) :) But it works instantly and I love it. At this strength, I believe these active ingredients are supposed to sting a bit, especially on open or raw skin, if they are correctly preserved and still effective. So I like the mild sting, and the fact that my skin will immediately respond and "shed" any dead skin and buildup. It's a staple on my shelf, now. Oh, and it can be diluted or mixed with other, milder products in the same category to diminish stinging and mellow the "peel feel." But this, for me, also mellowed the results. I don't have much patience for maintenance skincare, though.
